Suvarnabhumi airport will launch parking spots for women who travel alone or with children under 12 on Tuesday, Airports of Thailand (AoT) president Makin Petplai said on Tuesday.

The airport will spare the third floor of Building 2 for female travellers.

I wonder what the motivation is behind this?

It's just a shame that in this day and age there's still a need for these things

It's always been needed. We just hear about it more. Just like the awful child abuse stuff being revealed about the '60's and sadly, to this day.

You would just think that we might have evolved past it with a little education, but obviously not.

The Ancient Greeks and Romans were highly educated and look what they got up to.

I guess it's what society accepts at the time.

Excellent point. I think what I meant to convey was educating people to what is no longer accepted in our society.

JohnK, I'd dare suggest the vast majority of men are pretty safe from violence from random women. The statistics seem to suggest that. ;)

I am not too sure the statistics are that accurate. There are some men who are very hesitant to report suffering violence from women.

As are women especially if there is a religious or cultural element that is used to justify the violence.
