While this isn’t really a trip report, it’s a collation of footage from a trip I took to the Wings Over Illawarra airshow in Wollongong (Albion Park technically) last weekend which I understand is now Australia’s second largest air show. Some of you may be familiar with HARs and the show is based at the same airport and obviously HARS supply a lot of the aircraft although sadly not Connie this time.
Unlike Avalon, it’s a yearly event and this was the first time I visited.
I went on both Saturday and Sunday and it was a really great day. Highlights include (of course) the F/A 18, Mustang, Spitfire and the Focke Wulf FW-190 (the first Australia air show demonstration I believe). Saturday was overcast but the weather was near perfect on the Sunday.

Thanks. Really? I thought the weather on Saturday was pretty bad. :) The morning was OK but the afternoon was wrecked by heavy clouds.
The Sunday, on the other hand, was really fantastic. :)

And here's a shorter video of the Focke-Wulf 190, which was a real highlight of the show:

I had to leave around 3pm so must have missed the heavy clouds, they were starting to come in when we left but it was still pretty good.
