QF12 LAX-SYD Economy Saver to Business - unsuccessful as Gold. Text received at T-9. Waiting to see if Premium comes through, but not looking good.

Seat has changed to Premium in the app! No text, points haven’t been deducted, but gate agent was happy to replace my boarding pass.Inventory shows W4, I think you have a chance considering the WP/P1 requests should've been processed by now.

Possible, perhaps relates to the complaint I sent to VH about the handling of my cancelled outbound QF11. Doesn’t feel likely though. Suspect the points will deduct soon, but still no text. Maybe the delay and the upgrade has thrown the system.Potential op up? Economy looked pretty light although 7 May QF8 is heavily delayed (still on ground?) so some pax may have been rebooked out of LAX.
Have definitely had more luck travelling solo than together with my plus 1.I’m Platinum.
QF7 on a Saver fare - unsuccessful.
I was travelling with an infant and a Bronze FF.
Have requested on the way back. Will update.
I thought my Platinum status would raise the chances for the family, however, looking at those travelling in Premium Economy and Business, I doubt they were all Platinum/One, and on a Saver fare ahead of me. It looks like Singles might be the preference over a Platinum with more than couple/infant. Thoughts?
First Class check-in host said it’s automated but I doubt it.
From what I can tell it is automated. Even the VIP team hasn’t been able to intervene in the past.It looks like Singles might be the preference over a Platinum with more than couple/infant. Thoughts?

Great insight. Thanks mateFrom what I can tell it is automated. Even the VIP team hasn’t been able to intervene in the past.
Naturally traveling as a party of one has a greater likelihood than a party of 2 or more, given the loads on premium cabins are quite high and at times when my upgrade has been processed it’s for the last available seat.
Just because people don’t look it doesn’t mean they don’t have status or can’t afford to pay to fly in business.I’m Platinum.

My intention came across wrong. I meant the amount of people opposed to the type of people. As in- the statistic possibility of all those being platinum/one.Just because people don’t look it doesn’t mean they don’t have status or can’t afford to pay to fly in business.
There may have only been one or two seats in total that were available for upgrade. So it would only take one platinum - either individually or as couple - who requested the upgrade before you, to take any remaining seats. My intention came across wrong. I’d say that statistically those travelling in J are more likely to be WP/WP1 than those travelling in other cabins just due to the nature if how status and upgrades are awarded. My intention came across wrong.
