Window seats

Whenever I fly somewhere new I choose a window seat for that reason. On regional flight I usually have a comfort seat too, so have both :p

Side cabin storage, when available, is only accessible for window seats.

Sun control likewise is only possible if you are next to the window.

Makes 29 reasons for me !

I select my seat on each flight based on my mood, flight time, duration of flight, class of travel and most important - expected booziness.

Short haul - window.

Long haul - aisle.

Long haul red eye - Either with shadow or window with no shadow.

I tend more to a mix. Short haul new area I'll take window if it's a daytime flight. Long haul or night flight it's always aisle, as it is if I've flown the route many times.

"K" seats for me, cannot function after and "A" seat

Nice pics, but unless there is a specific spectacular sight guaranteed then it is aisle for me (and middle aisle on an e.g. 2-2-2 config at that).

Exactly. And consider how many gazillion pics have been taken to get those spectacular ones. What chances something similar will present for 'you' ?

I love the virews out windows but after 1000+sectors the aisle access can be more convenient. I'll still consider window first, but on say, MEL-SYD in economy it's an aisle for me.

I'll take a business window on a QF A388 over any aisle, but that middle aisle on a QF A330.

About the the only thing I have not seen is an upside down reflection of a City (Chicago) in a lake (although I have come across the taller Chicago buildings sticking up out of fog with nary a lake or low ground feature to be seen).

Agree with the philosophy but I don't think I've ever taken a decent photo out a window of a plane. The layers of scratched plastic and fogged or iced glass make it somewhat problematic. Phones are useless as they seem to focus on the nearest surface not outside. A good DSLR would probably do it though.

I did get a good video of the baggage handlers working on the ground the other day though!

I've never taken a photo from a plane window, but I always choose the window. Especially on long haul. When I spend that long in a metal tube, I need to be able to see outside even if there's nothing spectacular to see. Plus, it's good to lean against while trying to get some sleep in Y, and I just cannot bear being constantly knocked by FAs, food carts and passengers traversing the aisle. Really gives me the irrits.

It amazing what you see out of Windows sometimes ....
