Window seat but no window

I got a WSNW on a flight from DRW-BNE about 10 years ago. It was a QF 767.
Since then I noticed that on the seat maps they actually show which window seats have no windows. This was before I was using OLCI, and I had no status, so all I could do was accept what was offered by the check in agent under the impression I was getting a window seat.

Is the seatguru WSNW advisory accurate?

I've found Seatguru to be a good guide, but not always 100% accurate. A couple of years ago I got into an argument with an AS check-in agent because the window seat they allocated me was showing as having no window on Seatguru. The lady was convinced that there was indeed a window, and sure enough she was right.

I have a 737 flight coming up on QF later on, first row I could select is Row 9. From memory I can't remember a warning for the lack of a window on this row, so can see why someone would be surprised.

Managed to avoid a WSNW on AirAsia X by mistaking the gate number+letter combo for my seat number. Relieved when someone told me I was in their windowless seat - mine turned out to be an aisle in another part of the plane.

As Windows can be pitched at variable distance away from the front of the seat, what would be a reasonably classed as a Windowed seat. I would think a window abeam of the seat back would not be. I've had a passenger behind me move the blind on one of these windows much to my annoyance

Is the seatguru WSNW advisory accurate?

If you can find the right plane - yes their guide is reasonably accurate. The problem is that seatguru can sometimes be outdated for non-USA airlines these days.

Combine seatguru with the airlines seats maps (to make sure you've got the right model on seatguru) and you should be ok.

9A - Yep, got sucked into this one once...

Also on a recent trip had 26 or 28 A on a A330-300, SG said no window but I didnt check it until day before flight.
As flight was overnight nothing much to see so I wasnt worried...got a Business upgrade anyway to 1A so still dont know for sure.
The whole seating thing is so flight dependant anyway...you pay extra or sweat on a "good seat"...then find that the plane is only half full and you can get a whole row to sleep in anyway...
or conversely the extra large person or a screaming baby flight from hell...it's like lotto.

Still, nothing wrong with using SG and status to shorten the odds.

Another who can confirm no window row 9 of QF 738.

Row 10 isn't the best either as IIRC the window isn't flush with the seat - you need to either lean forward or lean back to look out the window.

7A/7K on EK B777 (J seats) don't have windows

Although I can't certify that all of these are correct I have put a question mark where there is still some doubt, for the claustrophobics amongst us or for the people who love to take photos out the window I think these are the common and obvious WSNW that we currently have in Australia I ommitted configs that have left service or are really uncommon (I didn't start the international as even QF has so many variants of its B747 fleet that it becomes a bit tricky, let alone all the other airlines). Note that this is domestic only and may still have omissions or mistakes, some of them such as the rear of the JQ A320s I have been able to validate from epic Facebook rants and pictures but the weird one is the B738 which is such a common aircraft but still some doubt about if its only the missing window on the left side of B738's or whether its the right side as well, from sources such as Airliners.net, seatguru and other seatmap sites there is still conflicting information.

QF A332 new config no window 7A (?)
QF B738 either config no window 9A (?)
QF B717 obstructed window 22A, 22F and no window at all 23F (?) - pretty sure about this one
QF All Dash 8's everything has windows (?)

VA A332 no window 39A (?)
VA B738 no window 9A (?)
VA B737 (is there still the one orphan B737-700 knocking about the fleet?) - no window on 6A if still being operated
VA E190 everything has windows (?)
VA ATR72 everything has windows

JQ A321 no windows 37A and 37F - validated by cabin photos
JQ A320 no windows 30A and 30F - validated by cabin photos

TT B738 no window either 10A or 11A (?) - new/rare config and without a J class this is a bit of a guess
TT A320 no windows 30A and 30F - seems common to all A320s so probably true?

Regional Express Saab 340 no windows at all 2A and 2C - definite about this one

any F100 may have obstructed window in 20A and 20G (?)

Wow can't believe the quantity, assuming that the alignment is not a design floor more squeezing in more seats?

Not quite the same, but on my VS (first time ever) LAX-EWR today I walked on board and every window shade was pulled down. And most stayed down for the entire journey. I was window, and I love watching the US landscape unfold and using the flight monitor to work out what I'm looking at. Felt guilty about raising the shade really. Also this was an exit row - damn hard to check for 'fire, smoke or obstruction' when the shade is down.
