When I was looking at my booking and subsequent flight to AMS last year I had a feeling that SQ was able to operate their older aircraft on this sector as they didn't have direct competition. I received an email today

Emirates will launch new daily flights to Amsterdam via Dubai starting 1st May. To celebrate this new route, Emirates is offering you up to two complimentary nights stay in Dubai.

I wonder if SQ will have to respond with improved equipment?

I would be disappointed if they also removed the Award Saver availability if they upgrade equipment as AMS is one of the few remaining European destinations where Saver redemptions are still available.

Thoughts and experiences appreciated.

But Emirates is a one-stop service, so not exactly direct competition to SQ. (if based in SIN).

I guess for Aussies who need a connection anyway, then it is a bit different.

The spacebeds are not that bad anyway!
