Does anyone know if jetstar plans to have a syd/mel to hong kong route in the near future?

I doubt it will happen in anytime in the next 5 years; Qantas fly or plan to fly 3 and/or 4 class aircraft betwixt SYD/MEL and HKG daily.

Given that, I don't believe Qantas can see a market for LCC on thise route.

It is not a traditional tourist type destination that seems to characterise other routes for JQ. I would only see it happening if JQ started flying to Europe and used HKG as the connecting airport - but I would have to assume that if that happened then JQ would find a cheaper hub.

Would not surprise me if they do it via SGN connections to Jetstar Pacific.

BL (Jetstar Pacific) has already announced plans to fly to BKK, SIN and REP whereas it previously flew predominately inside Vietnam.

Given HKG is a key QF destination, I'm with the all of the replies above - really doubt that JQ would take it on.

If anything from MEL/SYD - JQ would be more likely to connect to HKG through DRW using an A320. Or fly to Macau.
