So i have just booked enough flights in Business Class to finally make Platinum

This will be achieved when I fly Mel- NYC in Y in December.

My question, On my return NYC - Melbourne in January, will my bags get tagged First?

I know Qantas don't have First from NYC to LAX anymore so i assume No?

Kind of defeats the purpose of having Platinum if I can't get my baggage tagged. I know i am totally a DYKWIA but it will be fun, finally making Platinum self funded at 22 years old with no YUPP fares and 100% on Qantas metal!

Also will i have issues entering BA First lounge in NYC with NO CARD?????

Help!!

THanks

I got first tagged in Canberra when flying to LAX, so you may do.

ive never flow from JFK though, so not sure from a non-Australian port

This is one of those things where QF can be very inconsistent. Last week to AKL got J tags, return from AKL I got F tags, last month got F in SYD and J in AKL... In FRA got F as well...

hang on, you talking about the yellow tag right? Don't think i have had that before.....

Just because you have a F tag does not mean you will get your baggage any quicker than with a J tag.

I have waited for about 90 minutes to get my bag in SYD (with a F tag from LAX) and when I finally got it I missed my connection to PER.

I have also had the QF F host declare my bag lost in LAX (and even started the paperwork) when it finally arrived at the end of all of the Y bags (along with a number of other F bags).

I have found that only at SIN will you get a F tagged bag first. Everywhere else is pot luck.

good point! one of the many inconsistencies with the company
Surely someone from Qantas has heard of Six Sigma

FRA is quite good as they put the J and F tagged bags on a separate belt, last month I was out of the baggage hall and the whY belt hadn't even started turning yet.

I wouldn't worry too much between F and J tags, your bag will be where it is, which is where the baggage handlers see fit to put it ;) no offence to them, but no consistency.

Same with LAX
