Will CX/MU interline on QF Award?

Just looking at availibity for PVG - SYD and its intersting it shows MU to HKG and CX to SYD with a 2.5 hr layover. Is this a case of the Qantas Award system putting all its airlines together and not being smart enough, or will these airlines actually check through baggage and boarding pass if it is on a Award ticket? The two airlines are in different alliances and don't seem to have a relaitionship. There are examples of this such as MU and JL. . Should i just trust the computer?

Baggage interlining and alliances are two separate beasts. Airlines regularly interline bags - usually when all on one ticket - even if different alliances are involved.

According to expertflyer MU will through check baggage to CX, so shouldn't be a problem:
