Does anyone know why some QF 747s have 24 seats in business (upstairs) whilst other QF 747s have 22 business seats upstairs?

I believe the 744's with the new fabrics have an additional two Skybeds squeezed into them upstairs as part of the refurbishment.

Does anyone think that the quality of service has suffered from the increased pax upstairs?

I presume that the extra 2 seats mean that the closet behind row 17 is removed, or at least reduced in size?

Do the 2 class 744's have those extra seats anyway?

Yes. the 2 class 747's have had the additonal 2 seats since skybed was introduced.

Also, it seems the refreshed 2-class 744's have an additional two seats in Zone A - doing away with the centre console I suspect.

I suspect they have found that with the bigger overhead lockers on the upper deck that were part of the previous refresh, they have found they don't need the larger coat locker next to the rear toilets, allowing the installation of 2 additional seats. So this may be a progressive change to install the additional J seats across the fleet.

Makes sense I guess, but it looks like it might be quite tight in the aisle!
