Why did i open my big mouth then the boss asked if i could meet him in Europe next week.... looks like i am doomed to whY hell for the next month.

SIN-LHR-STR(stop)//FRA-LHR-PVG(stop)-LHR-FRA(stop)//STR-LHR-SIN

All BA (actually BA7309 i think is QF9) on one leg.

The only possible up side to all this is the fact that i earn some more SC.... about 190 by my count in discount whY

Why you my ask did i post this.... good question, i think i just wanted somebody to share my pain with me.

Not sure whether I would call that pain.

It would be nice to have a job that included international travel, even though travel only in WHY. Come to think of it I would just settle for having a job....

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!

Thats true i can't complain and atleast provided the fares are reasonably close i can choose what airline most of the time, so BA it was, the SQ option is not as good for me since i am *A nothing or silver now, The travel agents first suggestion was Air France !! not in this lifetime i believe was about what i said in reply.

Ok Evan, I'll sympathise with you. :p But that looks like you're meeting the boss in Europe twice?

At least if it's for the boss, you need to convince him you need to fly J so you're refreshed etc. :D whY oh whY are the rules so black and white.

But do enjoy it, must be a nice change from the weather in SIN at the moment.

Well actuall the boss will not be with me on the second visit.
The logic to the strange routeing is that it costs as much to fly SIN-PVG as it does STR-PVG at the moment and its not even that close to new year.

Yes your right, will be somewhat of a change.... atleast now i have some warm cloths, when i left AU end of december i arrived in NRT and had no warm cloths (i realised on the way i had forgot to pack anything !) so off to the shops it was.

I am afraid i have no changes of J, its our company policy in Asia to fly whY for all but the high managers, and even then they get it only over 8hrs.

IT consultant. I am a senior analyst programmer specialising in RPG programming on an AS400 with over 20 years experience. I have also had many years experience in data migration on any platform and a wide range of software applications.

Although the I-series, new name for AS400, is a very popular server most midrange companies no longer run the original software applications that were designed to run on an AS400. Some of these applications are BPCS, JD Edwards, IMAS, JBA, GEAC, Movex, PRMS etc.

Looks like office assistant or taxi driver may well be the next step in my evolution....

What about an FA or lounge Dragon? Then you could let all us in.

It is only when I see routings like that, that I realise how lucky I am to be flying in J - mind you I did take the job on the basis it was J (or above) for int'l flights...

Yes, well i did take the job and at that time did not expect to be flying at all for this company (when working for a consulting company i expect to be flying) so i did not pay much attention. The only thing that makes me feel better is the fact some of my bosses also fly whY, some J, all depends on what country there contract is from.

Even so i still enjoy it, when we do fly whY we have a good policy of flying in work time and if weekends etc then its time in liu, daily rates so you choose what you spend your money on, and time to "recover".

So if i worked in Europe i would fly J but could only claim $$ spend, eg meals.
If i work in Australia i fly Y but get a daily allowance + claim $$ spend on transport/accomodation etc, but not food.

You can take home a tidy extra tax free sum from some countries provided not too many drinks ;)

Its definitely good that the policy is consistent. Below the CxO/Exec team level I think all staff should be treated equally irrespective of level - its still the same amount of flying and I would not fly in a higher class than my staff unless I used points to UG myself (and I would probably not do that - most of my UGs have been when travelling alone).

Tickets issues about 8-10 hours before first flight.

Sector 1 complete SIN-LHR on QF9/BA7309 ... see trip report just for fun. And still in the BA lounge waiting my delayed flight to STR after missing the original booked STR flight.
