Hi,
Noticed on FlightRadar24 that SQ231 SIN-SYD has been diverted to MEL and is sitting on the taxiway alongside the runway as has been for a little while now.
It did a couple of laps west of SYD before heading to MEL.

Not able to find anything on Google currently.

Maybe storms passed though Sydney recently?

Thanks for the response.
I thought it might be some other more unusual reason as it was sitting on the taxiway for just over 90 minutes according to FR24. Maybe there was no gate available.

I thought it was SOP in these situations NOT go to a Gate in case anyone later transferring to MEL decided to de-plane, causing their own logistical issues - or is that only where the airline has no ground-handling arrangements?

BD

No such SOP. Diverting aircraft often simply can't get a gate, because they were never in the queue to be allocated one. I'd expect the issue at the moment would be staff related.

Thanks - well that blew that FA convo into the rubbish bin!!
