IME OZ is a very good airline. On the routes I've flown up till now the FA's had exrtemely limited english skills.. ( still a lot better than my Korean!) and were very helpful/keen etc...

Like SQ they tend to be rather formal.... food has been very good indeed (for airline food)

I am flying ICN-SFO as part of a complex itinerary in July.. and am on OZ214.. with the new Quadra Smartium seats in C... as you should be on the LAX flight.. (I think all SFO/LAX flights will have it way before then)

They look pretty good....I'm looking forward to it...

The cost of FUEL ALONE is about $60 per person per hour. So, that works out to $1800 per person for the return flight across the Pacific.

A good base line to start with when working our some fares.

About to jump on a plane, quick question for the gurus.

I need to boom 7! seats (5 adults, 2 kids) BNE to Orlando, departing 6th July returning 16th July.

Cheapest TA quote I can get is $2290 per adult and $1872 per child, for a total of $15194 flying V australia/V America

Can anyone beat that? Happy to accept PMs :)

Can only beat that by about $100/head. Tried a few creative tricks, but none gave any reasonable improvement (and judging by the number of pax, I don't think that creative routings would be advisable).

You also have to keep in mind change fees in case they move the SS launch back a week or two or similar... (Fare was found on matrix.itasoftware.com - have a play around)

Fantastic site, thanks for that, found a oneworld itinerary that will net me 150K points (across 7 pax) for an extra $400 :)

Thanks for that, repost on how you enjoyed the new seats on your return.
Cheers,

Best I can find are direct with Virgin for around $A1667

Have found another way to save but given that, maybe someone has a better way.

By Flying to NZ one way I can pickup a Virgin flight Auckland to LAX via SYD Cost $A199/219 via Jetstar/Virgin then $NZ1378 to LAX and return.

Total is $A1060 plus $A219 plus 1 night in Auckland $A100 = $1379 saving almost $300 but lose 1 day with travel.

On return from LAX can have one stop over - which would elect to do in SYD. Then just dont get on the leg from SYD to Auckland.

Alternatively could fly to NZ a month or so earlier enjoy a weekend there, pick up some duty free, NZ wine etc, cheap mars bars, Pick up LAX flight, take my stop over in SYD on way out, then reboard a month later to finish off trip.

This will mean paying an extra $125 for second stop off in Sydney on the way back. Unless someone has knowledge of how to clear customs in Australia before flying on to NZ. Now I did see that flights going to wellington have to fly out of Brisbane. So if I did a multicity flight say AKL SYD LA then LA SYD/BNE/WNG I would be forced to do customs in Sydney as the flight to BNE was a domestic flight, but I am not sure if this would be a "cheap" flight option ie similar in pricing as AKL/SYD/LAX return.

Alternatively if I was sick after the LAX/SYD flight and had to miss the AKL leg, what procedures are there (hehe). Or anyone know how to effectively clear customs in Sydney with bags while transiting thru to AKL

Thoughts please. Thanks
