Who said NTL does not have QF International flights

A QANTAS 747 flight carrying 220 passengers and running low on fuel has been forced to land at a regional airport this morning. The flight, en route from Hong Kong to Sydney, was diverted to Newcastle’s Williamtown Airport where it had to be refuelled at the RAAF base.
Airport spokesman David Nye told the ABC it was unusual to have such a large plane land in Newcastle.

Only 220 pax stood out to me.

Would they not normally fly to BNE or is that too large a diversion from the routing?

Agree - routine loadings of 220 PAX Hong Kong to SYD in a 747 would be losing money hand over fist for sure..... Looked at some dummy SYD-HKG-SYD Y bookings in April and as expected - Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific are all 20-30% better priced than QF.
