Currently sat on 694 which has arrived into MEL 1:20 late. We're now sat looking at a terminal full of darkened aircraft and waiting for one of the few flights to leave so we can get to a gate.

Surely, someone in Ops can see the potential for this dilemma long before we aircraft land and proactively move aircraft from gates to the obviously empty remote stands lining RWY 27.

Looks like we'll have been sat here 15mins before we move....at a very quiet Friday night domestic terminal.

Lovely!!

Only 15 minutes? I thought you were jumping onto here to wail you were waiting for at least an hour!

Yep, only 15mins.

After being assured at the Gate in ADL that "we'll be boarding in 5 mins", 10 mins before the operating cabin crew arrived.

After being assured again at the Gate in ADL as we were boarding that "estimated arrival in Melbourne is 8:55" ... we got to the gate at 9:30 (OK so Qantas says "9:29").

Actually we landed at 9:07, very short taxi to wait 20 mins in the end.

At that time of night, with so little activity within the terminal, you think there should be ANY sort of delay??

Regards,

BD

You've obviously never been to PER at that time of night before have you???

I agree you think Airline Ops would see the issue hours before and move some planes around or have a spare gate.
