Which Station Would be Best?

We are going on a cruise which departs from Portside Wharf Cruise Terminal at Brisbane on a Saturday in July. I think we can check-in about 11:00.

We intend to stay with friends near Robina for a few days beforehand and then go to the cruse terminal by train and taxi.

Which would be the best station to get off the train and get a taxi with regard to getting from the platform to street with luggage, the presence of an active taxi rank and distance from the cruise terminal?

I would take the airport train to Eagle Junction and grab a cab from there rather than changing trains to get closer.

If you have time, and the weather is ok, you could catch the city cat (is the "brett's wharf" stop back up and running yet?)

If you catch the Airtrain be aware that it is privately owned and the seniors concession is about $2.

I was going to suggest that. Southbank station for the train and then city cat from southbank to bretts wharf. You'd hope it would back on line in July. I just checked Translink and they say there are service to bretts wharf from south bank.

Only issue is getting from the station to the ferry stop with luggage. It is probably maybe a 500m walk. Pretty easy and flat.

The OP won't need to get the airtrain as they would be best getting to a station on the normal rail network. I would have said a station like doomben, hendra or ascot. Should be plenty of taxis around racecourse road. I'm just not sure if trains still service these stations.

Thanks everyone. We'll probably leave the ferry ride for some other time and go to Eagle Junction.

We had also thought possibly Bowen Hills which is much the same distance from the cruise terminal but don't know if there is a cab rank there. (Though I suppose that with the big hospital complex not too far away, there would be.)

I would prebook one to meet you there but they are often there, I was posting from the Eagle Junction platform when I made the suggestion and could see one! There is no extra cost just because the train is going to the airport, they dont own the rolling stock, only the airport stations.
