I have an AU passport, and a HK SAR one as well. The AU one is the old one without a chip, and will expire in 14 months but it's half full. The HK one is brand new with a chip... obtained last year, with no stamps at all. The way I understand it is that are no differences between the two in terms of entry conditions. Besides, I'm only traveling on a 2-week tour anyway. I'm based in Singapore, so I won't be worrying about leaving/entering AU borders. Which passport would be better to use, or would there be no difference?

I'd be using your HKG one. You'll be using the Other Passports line regardless of which you use (as you don't have EU).

Will you have the opportunity to access the Fast Track line (flying in J or F, or elite FF status)? I haven't used it but presume it's as fast as EU line.

I too would use your HKG one unless you know that you will be having lots of visas in the future - I would save your clean passport for that as you will just get a small stamp in your AU passport rather than losing a whole clean page in your HKG passport.

Thanks for the comments.

I won't have access to the Fast Track line, but given that I will have to wait for a few others who won't have access either, it's probably not as important on this occasion.

I also expect not have have many visas in the future at all. In fact, the original purpose of obtaining the HKG passport is to be able to get into Indonesia visa-free. The VOA in Indonesia is $25 USD, and with the HKG passport being roughly $48 USD, it is a good deal.
