Personally I have been an iphone user for about 4 years but recently changed over to an android based Samsung note 2. Mainly for the extra real estate available for photos, emails, web, document viewing etc. I have resisted purchasing a tablet for some time hoping the "phablet" would fill the gap as well as doubling as a mobile phone. The jury is still out on this one, although the note 2 is slim I`ve managed to drop it and smash the screen, ouch cost $199 to get a new one. I now have it ensconced in a rather large protective rubber case. My employment requires me to be in a large range of environments from building sites through to offices. I`m sure there are many fellow members in the same position, I`m interested to hear any comments or insights. I enjoy the note 2 it`s many features and large screen, but as always maybe there is something better out there?

I have an iPhone 5 and have used iPhones since 2008, But I am considering getting a S4 or Note 2 as i'm getting over the iOS now.

Ben

I want to update my HTC Incredible S, so I have looked at the HTC One, the Samsung S4 and the Samsung Note 2. I really like the Note 2, but I have decided to wait for the Note 3 which is supposed to be released next month. I love the larger screen and the stylus in particular. Apparently, ladies are liking the size because we would not try to carry the phone in our pocket, but in a smart, elegant and capacious handbag with many pockets.

+1 for S3 or S4 and even note... great hardware and OS

Galaxy s4 for me, with a galaxy s2 for my Australian sim.

Note 3 is released soon. Should be nice.

Just swapped to a HTC One from a HTC 8X(Windows Phone) Also had a Sony Xperia Z as well a few months ago.

I do have an I phone 5 but very limited use. I get bored with phones and the whole different size sim card thing does not work for me.

iPhone for me. I used a Samsung something at work and the touch response on the screen was terrible so have been wary since. Another guy at work had an S3 and since he was determined to be useless and asked to leave, my office has had his phone to cover his calls and it has the same touch lag issues with the screen. I have sworn off them forever as I have never had an issue with either of the 3 iPhones I've had, not a single one with the phone or OS.

On the other hand, the bosses son switched from iPhone to Samsung and swears by his S4 so it has to be a personal thing as neither brand is cough, you just like what you like I guess.

Any phone you can make a call from is a good start. iphone, android, windows... all up to personal choice...

Had an iPhone since the day they were first launched and had every model since, with the exception of the 4S. I skipped that and went straight to the 5.

Galaxy S Duos, love the dual SIM and long battery life while the screen size is good for me.

When I broke my note 2 I went back to my old iphone 3s must say it was like meeting an old trusted friend again. I used it for over 2 years then gave it to my wife who made good use of it till she updated to a 5. I still take it away with me as I have all my music on it. Also good as a spare phone although the sim is a different size from the note 2 which is annoying. Also have had a samsung galaxy 3 I think, gave up trying to tether it to my laptop, couldnt work out how to do it! No problem tethering with note 2 though, although I tether less now because the screen is so big I use it more like a tablet.

I have a "bent" iPhone 5 courtesy of forgetting it was in my back pocket when I got in my car - it is no where near as sturdy as the 3 was.

I don't mind the iPhone but am quite liking the HTC One that mrs shano has.

Who uses mobiles to make calls these days? Lol.

Actually I make more calls that I used to. I buy my phones outright, and use Amaysim. All you can eat calls more attractive than data.

I love Windows Phone 8. Great travellers phone with the best mapping solutions as a general rule (pre downloaded, no data required). I have been using Nokia, but have found support atrocious since the demise of the Nokia Care Centres and the requirement to send phones to Sydney at the centre of NSW (Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong) for repair (after son dropped the phone while in the WP8 Kids Corner). I have been waiting on a formal quote for what I consider a warranty repair for over a month. Lots of complaints have failed to get any result, even though the social media team have been trying to help.

Lesson. If buying WP8 from Nokia, make sure you have an Otter Box for it, and don't stress about Grey Imports from Kogan and missing the 2 year warranty - that warranty is not worthit. Alternatively, don't get a high-end Nokia outright.

Samsung Galaxy S.

Contract expiring end of the month and I am currently on a $29/month plan with $450 calls included.

I am after a plan that includes free phone (More than likely Samsung Galaxy S2) and from what I can see with the new plans the cheapest appears to be $39/month and only $250 calls included.

iPhone 5. The nerd in me wants android but the world of apps and support still revolves around the iPhone and it does seem more polished and it "just works". (Which is great when you want a reliable device but boring when you want to play)

I have a nano sim, and just use an adapter to make it the right size :)

I've had a HTC One since mid June and it's by far the best phone I've ever owned. Basically everything I hated last time I used Android has now been fixed.

I had a Windows phone for a while (HTC 8X) but it was not compatible with the security policies on our corporate Exchange (iPhone and Android however work fine) so I didn't last very long as I live by my calendar and got sick of printing it out each morning to carry around with me :)

I also have an iPhone 5. It is not my day to day phone as the battery life is terrible (flat by 6pm with my usage). The HTC One got me most of the way through a second day when I forgot to charge it overnight once.

iPhone 5...................support still revolves around the iPhone
I do not have a tech bone in my body - in fact I am lucky to turn phone ON / OFF - I have had every iPhone released - had first one for like 2 weeks before I gave it away - returned to iPhone coupla years later.

Currently have iPhone 5 - in March this year I left iPhone 4S on back seat of taxi in Beijing - 2 hours later I had new iPhone 5 in my hands - restored from a back-up on Laptop - and up and away. This is paramount to me - and ability to AUTOMATICALLY receive software updates etc has kept me with iPhone. Never listen to music - never play games - never watch movies etc - it is a phone and phone only for me - I do use camera occasionally - and several apps for weather, forex updates, SQ app etc - simple stuff.

I know ZERO about Samsungs / Androids etc - my question is how user friendly are non-iPhones to back-up / update software etc?

See simple question from totally simple guy?
