In my limited experience this lounge is far superior to SYD F. I have only been through SYD F once since covid (2022) and it was particularly underwhelming. Apart from the view we may as well have been in the Q club domestic. The MEL Qantas F lounge that I visited recently was a nice surprise. I had been in there before a few times and had been a little underwhelmed, but on this occasion, where I had a little more time to spare, I found it to be really nice. In fact I now think it's better than the SYD F lounge.
For starters, the staff were helpful and friendly (which is not always the case at SYD), I had a good dining experience, with quick, attentive service, and well cooked food, and the drinks pours were quite generous (compared with the penny pinching and frumpy approach which seems prevalent at the SYD lounge).
After the meal there is comfortable seating with a panoramic view of the tarmac, and a handy help yourself drinks cabinet, should you feel the need. What's not to like?
The MEL spot is in my opinion up there with any lounge I have been too. Admittedly I only go once or twice a year.
Generally not that busy, small, good service and a cracker view. Like doors on on J class chairs, I do not understand some peoples obsession with a lounge being "massive". But that is just me.
Planning another visit on Thursday prior to a short trip east. I still get a bit excited for a visit.
