Hi All,

Flying in J with SQ out of Sydney in a few weeks and just wondering which lounge people think would be best? I have access to the SilverKris and Air New Zealand lounges due to flying J with SQ and have access to the Amex lounge through my credit card. Just wondering from peoples experience which is best? I've only been to the Air New Zealand lounge before in Sydney and was pretty impressed but have heard good things about the SilverKris lounge too.

I was hearing good things about the new Amex lounge pre covid (been to old one a number of times and found it underwhelming) but it doesn't seem to be hitting the same levels since reopening from what I've heard.

Main thing I'm looking for is somewhere relatively quiet with good food and decent drinks to unwind before the flight. If anyone has experience of any of the three lounges and how they found them it would be much appreciated. I appreciate I can lounge hop but I prefer to stay put once I've settled in unless there's a compelling reason to move.

I wouldn't bother with the Amex lounge.

If you like your coffee, the NZ lounge has a barista service, the attendants in the SQ lounge will also whip you up a coffee but not sure how the quality compares to NZ as I don't drink coffee. The SQ lounge has their buffet up and running now, but I haven't been to the NZ one post COVID reopening.

Depends also on your flight timing/aircraft as well, if you're travelling on the A380, the SQ lounge will be fairly busy. Same for the NZ lounge if you happen to be in there when NZ/Star Alliance flights are departing at the same time, SQ is known to tell other Star Alliance J/gold customers to go to the NZ lounge 😏Both are decent lounges, so you can't really go wrong

I would always go to the SQ lounge, even when flying another Star airline, as IMO it has much better food and beverage (alcoholic) options. It also has more comfortable (if perhaps old-fashioned) seating options, although it is a smaller lounge and can be rather crowded.

My personal preference is SQ>NZ>>new Amex
SQ wins on champagne and my food preference
However NZ bar is good and the lounge feels stylish. Can't comment on coffee
New Amex is bigger than old but cheap plonk, sloppy food, no tonic when I was there. Dark and rubbish views too

Thanks all for your help.

I'm on SQ222 so on the A380 so likely the SQ lounge will be pretty busy. That said I think I'll try the SQ lounge first and if it's too packed will relocate to the NZ one.
