Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help out as im new to this and very confused: My mother is about to take a number of flights with various airlines as listed below. Apart from the obvious Qantas FF, can anyone recommend which programs to join in order to maximise the collection of points. The major consideration is that it is unlikely she will be flying to Europe again so we'd like to accumulate points with an airline / alliance with whom she can fly around or close to Australia.

1. Melbourne - Hong Kong (Qantas) - Amsterdam (KLM)
2. Amsterdam - St Petersburg (KLM)
3. Moscow - Astana (Air Astana)
4. Astana - Kalingrad - Vienna (Austrian Air) - Amsterdam (KLM)
5. Amsterdam - Singapore (KLM) - Melbourne (Qantas)

Any help or direction would be great!!

What about Malaysia Enrich? The KLM flights could be credited to that at least.

I don't believe there is a common program that KLM and Qantas flights can be creditted to. Malaysia Enrich is an option for KLM, but would need to check that the booking class is eligible.

Alitalia is a Skyteam member and a QF Partner - though not sure how that would work.

Maybe Korean Air or Continental (Both Sky Team) but at least they both credit KLM and fly to Oz.

CO fly to Oz?

Given the flights are booked on KLM wouldn't it be best to credit to KLM (excl QF flights) and then redeem on KLM/skyteam partners for flights out of OZ?

The upshot is that except for the QF flights there is no practical way to credit these flights to a program for Domestic Oz travel.

CO fly to Oz?

Yep they do. Twice a week. Good Airline trivia question.

Here's another.......(Off topic, I know) "Which is the only 1 of the 32 weekly Qantas flights to Singapore from Oz that arrives before 5pm.?"

Didn't think any of them did, I thought the PER flight was earliest and that is after 5pm.

Here you are wrong..... Qantas is a redemption partner of flying blue - the KLM/AirFrance FF program. It does require 25K flying blue miles for Y class domestic redemption, 40K for J class. However on the sectors being travelled, won't come close to these points levels.

Oops, how right u r. Looks like the answer is now "0".

I was sure there used to be a Per-Sin flight that departed at 11.15 AM and arrived at 4.45pm - maybe it has changed to the 12.00 midday flight, arriving 5.25pm..Rats.

perhaps changed with the swap from daylight savings time.

The PER and ADL flights are the only ones that connect with the JAL SIN-KUL flight. I have taken both in order to get to KUL same-day on OneWorld.

Ditto for the connecting QF3951 flight SIN-BOM flight on the days that SYD-BOM don't run. Probably just the Perth flight though. ADL (arriving 6.20pm) bit tight for a departing 7.10pm connection.

Maybe we can start a new thread for flight trivia and anomolies. Love the British Airways flights between JNB and Cape Town as well as the Cathay flights between Mumbai and DXB.

Not to mention JL between YVR and MEX!

Great, thanks for everyones help - so much help in so little time! I think I'll take out FF memberships with Qantas and KLM for my mum.

Thanks again
