Hi All,

Going to be doing a lot of travel on personal account for work.

Trying to work out if any cards waive CC fees for Qantas bookings (eg like Virgin money and Jetstar CC's)?

It appears Amex provides best points but highest fees.

I realise this probably belongs in CC discussion thread but it is Qantas specific......

Thanks in advance

I don't think any credit cards that don't attract a fee. Debit card's don't attract a fee, but I think QF only accepts mastercard debit cards.

Hi,

Is it still the case that if you use a gift voucher to part pay for a fare then you don't get charged a credit card service fee? I just did that exact thing and didn't get charged a fee to use my Amex.

You can of course buy the gift voucher with your credit card.

Dale.

Yes, no credit card fees when you pay for the gift voucher (you'll receive it by email within a day or so), and no credit card fees when you pay the balance after using the gift voucher to book a flight! Look out for the Qantas offers of QF points when buying a gift voucher ($1 = 10 points) - it's been around Christmas the last 2 years and both times I've taken advantage and stocked up on gift vouchers for travel the following year...

Not aware of any cards as Qantas doesn't have it's own card like Jetstar does...

An option here is to use an online travel agent if your flight requirements are quite simple - a lot of the big sites don't charge CC fees but have the flights for the same price as QF...

Only thing I find is that online travel agents usually only offer fares which are not eligible for upgrade, so if I were looking for one which does I've no choice but to book it directly through the Qantas website...

No I am commuting so paying my own way (my choice to commute rather than move)

Well in that case I think you're going to have to wear the fees yourself in order to earn points, pay using MasterCard debit, vouchers, or through an online travel agent....

All cards avoid the fees with qantas. Simply purchase gift vouchers. There are no fees an you still earn points.

At post #3 dalereardon queried whether part paying with a gift voucher will mean no cc fees on the balance. Can this be confirmed, please?

If yes, would that would mean I can pay, say $200 via gift voucher and, say $9,000 on cc for an international fare?

As long as it's not a multicity then yes. I know you're referring to an intl ticket, but I have done this numerous times with domestic one-way and return fares. Although I did run into a hick-up when I tried to amend my flight within 24 hours, best solution was to cancel my ticket and re-process it with the new flights. However since I was using a gift voucher it meant that could not be done and only modified the agent on the phone which means from now on if I need to change that ticket again I will have to ring up and pay the telephone fees and cannot change it online.

The int ticket also needs to be ex-Australia too.
