HI All,

I will be doing some international travel to NZ shortly and then possibly to the US.

I read different information on various websites about which Qantas card I should present at check in. I have a Qantas Club Card and a Silver FF Card.

Does it matter which one I present on checkin??? SHould I give both?

Thanks

Qantas will have you down as a QC Silver OW Ruby in their system.

Present the Silver card when not flying Qantas, present the QC or Silver card when flying Qantas.

Present the QC card when entering a Qantas lounge before flying on a Qantas flight (or an AA lounge before a AA flight, or a BA lounge before a BA flight).

So long as the cards have the same FF membership number it makes no difference which you present at check-in. In fact, if your FF membership number is correctly inserted into the reservation, you don't need to present the card at all.

I got my Silver QFF card a few weeks ago (first one) and I must say I was truly upset that it was not a Qantas Club Silver card. It even stated in the letter that as a Qantas Club member I now need to carry both. How cough is that!?!

Qantas historically perceived any 'status' card that does not gain access to QP's as redundant.

i.e. in 1995, a QFF "Blue" & "Silver" status cards were not issued to QP members when they attained those levels.

However with the advent of oneWORLD, things changed so the need to issues these additional cards arrived.

What it means is that your silver card has more use o'seas in oneWORLD checkins. The QP card is a lot more use in Oz and those few international ports where a QP exists.

Serfty, I agree with you points. However, it would be possible for QF to create a different single card for Qantas Club members who are also FF Silver (and hence OneWorld Ruby) FF status. It could just be a FF Silver card with a Qantas Club logo prominently displayed.

But that would mean informing all other OneWorld airlines of this new card to add to their benefits cheat sheets, and perhaps that effort and the cost of producing yet anther card variation is not warranted.

Not really - just use the current Silver card, and add a prominent "Qantas Club" logo onto the front (or the back) - it is only QF, AA, BA and US that would need to know the difference, after all.
