Where the heck is Ko Tau?

Made a good mess with those snacks.Must have been good.

Yes, should have taken the photo first. But we hadn't eaten since Macca Thai at 6am. Plus no 2 son joined us.

Monsoon rain seems to have cleared now. Looking good for tomorrow.

Chang beer ?

Yes. There's a story. There's always a story. :D

We caught up with our younger backpacking son about an hour earlier and as you do you head off to the nearest bar.

Pretty basic but great view. Checked the menu for beer. Asked for Tang large. Nope. Asked for Singha large. Nope. Asked for Tiger large. Heineken? Nope (all on the menu). "We only have small Tang and small Chang". (Aussies been here?).

Ok we will have a tang each (not me, only beer here and I didn't want it).

Waited for 15 minutes and being the only ones there not busy. So Son asks in Thai about the beer.

"Oh, we just put it in fridge to cool down first".

"Ok, is there any beer that is already cold?"

Chang it was!

A nice peaceful view from the balcony this morning.

Still on Aussie time so 5am wake up.

Nice spot for breakfast (included). Food pictures tomorrow as I'm going Groundhog Day.

It's a tough life chilling out.

Most resorts in Ko Tau are built down the hillside. There isn't much flat land here.

This is the opposite view from yesterday (looking down to the pool). Reception is the multi level building on top of the resort.

This is the ferry we came in on.

The locals love teaching us furriners their language.

I'd already mastered hello due to work I did with Thai Department of Public Welfare a few years ago. Thank you - getting there. The waiter this morning was running through another phrase "I love you". Awkward with MrP sitting opposite. Not sure what was going on there. That waiter disappeared though when 25 year old son joined us for breakfast.

We are here for 8 nights Dame so plenty of time to chill out. You are home now?

Bit of a boat jam now.

No, we fly out this evening and will be home tomorrow in time for the fireworks over the lake. We can see them from our winter garden so don't even need to go out. Is the resort doing anything for NYE?

Safe travels then.

I think this area is known for heavy partying. Not us.

Another bar with a view

And a late lunch.

Flat spring rolls? :p

Master P and I grabbed a taxi to check out the pier and Saree Beach - main drag. Hanging on for dear life as this place is up a hill.

There is also a music festival down the road. The audience has the best dreads I have ever seen. Byron Bay - eat your heart out. Most impressive.

Saree beach is beautiful. But very busy with tours boats and people.

Oreo Milkshake and Chang for the laddie.

This boat was tipping in shallows. It was a snorkelling boat so when people try reboarding after snorkelling in deeper water I'm thinking it could get nasty.

Eee, there're a lot of people on that little boat. Sounds like it could make the news if you are not careful!
Water looks good. Is the milk UHT?

Beautiful sunset tonight for the last day of the year.

Think we might just be sticking with SA time for midnight which is 9.30 pm. Isn't that sad? But with heat, sunshine and swimming etc we are done. Of course alcohol had nothing to do with it. :p

A belated Happy New Year Dame and all AFF'ers.

Chewing through data here so a quiet day yesterday.

This isn't the moon but one of the many moon lanterns released NYE. Imagine this fireball being released over bushfire prone Australia!

Some random shots of the resort.

This is a baby hammock in a nearby beach bar. Looked rather pleasant.

A photo last night over the water to the next bay. We plan on walking there today on low tide.

We could see flame throwers as we ate dinner here:

Another day of doing not much which is proving to be most exhausting.

Some pix today taken looking back from where we had dinner last night. By day it wasn't quite so glam but more natural:

Every menu seems to have in addition to Thai meals a sub group called "noname" and then lists chicken, beef, pork etc.

This is chicken noname.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420193270.433877.jpg

Which looks exactly the same as chicken tempura we had the day before. Who knows the secret.

And this is "grumpy cat" twin!

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420193353.490472.jpg

Tonight will be pizza. We have to walk a way to get it. Through rocks and water.

Don't imbibe too much then or you may find the return trip a little nasty

Looks like a great place to be getting exhausted doing very little. How's the snorkelling?
