Where did you visit for its geographical significance?

Quite a lot of these "places" are stretching the definition, I think.

For example, I once visited the line of the equator in Ecuador. There was a museum there with a guided tour, and the guide drained a sink of water on both sides of the line - as well as right on the line - to demonstrate the different directions that the water flowed. In hindsight, I think they might have used some trickery but it was interesting at the time.

I’m in Quito today just in an uber back from the equator.

I had a 1 on 1 guide as it was late in the day, guy could tell I wasn’t in the mood for BS and as I said it’s a myth you can see the effect in such a small volume of water (let alone expecting a different result a few meters away from their equator which isn’t even the exact line anyway). He told me they just do the equator example first when it’s still, and for the north and south of examples it’s just the direction he pours the water.

Massive tourist trap IMO. The monument (which is 7 seconds of latitude off) is a good photo. The museums line is 4 seconds off. You have to go to the car park to see precisely 0 on your phone compass.

Now, have you been down mine shafts in Cobar or Mt Isa etc to the deepest (attainable) part of Oz to almost complete the set? THAT is worth doing. But we still have lonely WA somewhere near Useless Loop.

Just need Steep Point in WA for the Continental extremes bingo card.
My claustrophobia would be kicking in big time on the mine shafts so unless I can overcome that , nope.

I was pondering about the lack of distinctions for our poor orphan Taswegia. It would have 4 (prized) extremities on the leaderboard, with QLD second.
Lest we go into Oz towns/villages that are highest, hottest, coldest, most boring etc .

Unfortunately Mt Isa Mines closed the underground mine tour many years ago but opened a tourist centre where you can experience something similar. I lived in Mt Isa in the late 90's and got to go down underground a couple of time, the deepest being 2 kms.
