Am finalising plans and looking at viability of arriving 20.00 on BI and transfering to TG domestic flight to Chiang Mai which departs at 21.35.
Both airlines have interline agreement so should be able to ticket luggage straight through to CNX but will I have time to transfer? Each time I have flown BI they have arrived 20 mins early at destination but would like to check data on flight arrival punctuality for my peace of mind.

In theory I should be able to transfer by clearing immigration and then onto domestic transfer desk if it is not too far away. Can do customs at Chiang Mai with check in case.

Can someone point me to punctuality rates and are they meaningful or just averages?

If anyone has any direct experience of doing international arrival and on to domestic departure could they share their experience? I know I will be cutting it fine.

Thanks for your expertise and reassurance. JoyV

Would suggest flightstats.com too.

There are transfer desks at BKK for international to domestic transfers specifically for Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, coughet, Samui, Krabi and Hat Yai. Even if you haven't been able to through check from Australia, you can collect your boarding passes there.

I don't know what happens with the bags though as never done it with checked luggage - not sure if it is like SIN where they will ask for your luggage receipt and redirect it.

MCT for BI to TG in BKK is 2 Hours for International to Domestic. This information is available on Expertflyer.com, if you have a paid subscription.

They should also have the OTP for each flight, if you want to sign up for a free trial and search (you don't list origination so I can't look that up).

Re: Where can I find punctuality data for Royal Brunei and Thai? Have 90 min change @

I used to fly Royal Brunei when they flew out of Perth. Their prices were often very good and the flight times really suited me. I also enjoyed our stopovers at the Empire Hotel.

However, the airline was very unreliable. Sometimes the flight times were changed at the last minute (relatively speaking), other times the dates of the flights were altered.

So I wonder how reliable such tight timings would be. If I had to fly Royal Brunei now, I would book a two or three day stopover to be sure. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Your bags won't be interlined if MCT is not met which apparently it is not. What you are wanting to do probably won't be achievable as you will need to collect your bags and check in again.

Re: Where can I find punctuality data for Royal Brunei and Thai? Have 90 min change @

Thanks for your help everyone. I have learnt a lot in the process of my investigations thanks to info above.
Have learnt MCT is minimum connection time and TG Melbourne office advise that it is one hour and 15 mins which gives me a little breathing space and transfer desk is prior to Immigration which makes it even easier. Chiang Mai has both immigration and customs.
I have to produce both etickets to get check in luggage checked through to CNX.

flightstats.com told me that On Time Performance of BI from BWN to BKK is 85% on time and I learnt that OTP also means "one true pairing" which can also mean that is your true love!!

Thanks all for your input. Double checked with to Melbourne office and MCT is 75 mins BI to domestic TG. Cranky that I have to pay $70 airport taxes when redeeming points. Is this normal practise or only TG?
