I enjoy hearing about where others are planning on going for their holidays and I know that my fellow AFFers are keen on travel!

So far for 2018 we have a trip booked to Perth, Denpasar and Singapore in January 2018 (well the Perth leg is post Christmas 2017). Still considering what else I can schedule in for next year - places I am considering include Luang Prabang, Tokyo and Koh Samui. As much as I would love to head back to Europe again, it is unlikely in 2018.

So where are you going next year? Or where are you thinking of going? :)

Just got back from Egypt, still jetlagged! Amazing place (and totally safe if anyone is considering it)

Next up is NYC, and a cruise up the east coast to Boston and Nova Scotia

In a couple of weeks we'll have enough points for J RTW Oneworld fare. If the planets align we hope to get to Vegas, a road trip through New England for fall colours, cruise down US east coast from Quebec, a few days in Paris then a few more doing the French Battlefields, a road trip in Scotland then home. Have a few miles to play with so will add another destination in Europe somewhere - a couple of days in Krakow perhaps for something out of the ordinary.

I am old enough but not rich enough to retire so I still work whenever we are not on the road.
A few local cruises or short trips when bargains arise and one big trip every year is our current plan.

Big trip next year is:
March. Ovation of the Seas Sydney-Singapore-Tianjin (31days)
China for a couple of weeks.
Shenyang- Bangkok (cheap paid Y fare on China Southern)
Bangkok 3 nights. (Marriott Marquis Luxury Escapes deal)
Bangkok-Singapore-Istanbul (Singapore J on pts) Flight was same amount of pts as a flight from Singapore-Istanbul direct so got us a visit to BKK.
Istanbul-Fethiye Turkish Airlines (cheap paid fare)
Jiva Beach resort Fethiye 5 nights (5 star all inclusive for about $120 a night)
Ferry Fethiye-Rhodes 3 nights
Ferry Rhodes-Santorini 4 nights
Ferry Santorini-Naxos 4 nights
Athens 1 Night
Fly Aegean Airlines Athens-Copenhagen (Cheap paid fare)
2 nights Copenhagen.
Cruise Copenhagen-Norway-Arctic Circle-Copenhagen on Serenade of the Seas 11 days
Fly Copenhagen to Beijing (still tossing up whether to burn points for J flight or fly Aeroflot Y for around $400.
5-6 weeks in China which will include a couple of side trips if they arise
Late July fly home (Qantas or Velocity or pay? TBD)

Mostly locked in with some flexibility at the end.

Currently on the list - provided I can line up leave, available leave balance, the funds, a house sitter and a travel companion! - are:

- Tanzania/ Kenya/ Botswana (somewhere amongst these countries) around May
- Mexico (Holbox) and maybe NYC after around September

Ideally a week's break in there too - back to Sri Lanka will be the pick.

The plans is for

in April - Angkor Wat and Songkran in Thailand

in September - try out CX F for the first time on the way to Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Munich, Zurich with a SQ F flight back so I can try out the 28/10 Whisky bar that's part of the Swiss Senator lounge.

Don't miss the falkirk wheel in Scotland. Glengoyne distillery outside of Glasgow is also worth a visit. Was a sad day when I had the last dram I brought back.

We have had 2018 organised for a while.
We see in the New Year in in Charleston. Then head to Savannah and Orlando-4 days then 4 days staying inside Disney World with the grandkids. From there a couple of days in Houston and our usual end of trip chill out in Bangkok.

March sees us off again.Singapore,Phoenix and Mazlatan Mexico where we board the Silver Explorer and follow the grey whales north to Vancouver. Then a week on Vancouver Island.Home with stops at San Francisco,Tokyo and Bangkok.

Off again in September.Once again Singapore,a week in Japan then Honolulu where we once again board the Silver Explorer to Easter Island via Tahiti.Returning via Bangkok.Probably another stop depending on what award availability there is.

Might have time for a couple of quickies as well!

Perth - Vienna EK J. Then Easyjet to Bristol and 2 weeks hire car around Cornwall. Newquay to Dublin and 2 weeks self drive around southern Ireland. EK J from Dublin back to Perth.

One big one Lisbon, Porto, Nice, Nantes, Angers, Paris, New York, Miami and Charleston. TG J to Europe, CX F US back to OZ. As for Europe to USA God knows. Have spare LM for Lufthansa F, need a back up plan though

My "first trip of 2018" is actually a December 2017-January 2018 trip:
-Quick stop in Hong Kong
-Then on to Tucson, Arizona for a special Christmas week family gathering, with a daytrip across the border to Mexico also planned (why not, when it's less than 90 minutes away!)
-San Francisco to kick off 2018
-LA for a week
-Second quick stop in HK before flying home

Particularly excited about Tucson. I've never been, but I've heard wonderful things about the scenery, culture and food. For any fellow foodies out there, it is North America's only UNESCO-listed "City of Gastronomy": Tucson | Creative Cities Network

*I'll be posting my lounge schedule for this trip on the lounge meets threads shortly - if anyone is looking to be guested into Star Alliance lounges during that period. I'm really looking forward to checking out the LAX Star Alliance Lounge for the first time!

Also contemplating Europe and Japan for my 2018 mid-year and year-end vacations, respectively.

Two trips planned and who knows how many ad hoc trips will occur.

February off to SYD for the FT AGM then a few days in BKK.

June I'm off to the AFF Lounge run in HKG.

Just finished booking for our big trip next year in September-October. A number of firsts for us, SQ suites SYD-SIN-ZRH. A week self driving through Switzerland, then flying ZRH-MAD to join an Insight guided tour of Spain and Portugal for a couple of weeks. Flying BCN-NCE for a week of self drive along the southern France coast before heading off on a Mediterranean cruise on MS Koningsdam from Rome. Finishing up with a week of doing our own thing in Rome and Venice before flying SQ J A350 FCO-SIN-BNE home.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
