Can anyone remind me when next anticipated double status credit promotion is likely?
Thanks

While we are at the anticipation of any future DSC promotions, to which membership year are the DSC's credited to? The normal SC's count towards the year of a flight's departure day but how about the DSC's, do they also go similarly? I.e. I'm thinking whether it makes any sense to time a status run to the end of the QFF membership year to get the SC's to the old year but the DSC's to as a nest egg in the new year (e.g. flights on 30th/31st day, presuming the DSC's arrive on 2nd/3rd of next month at the earliest)?

In my experience, they go with the year the flight was taken in.

That won't work. The SCs are credited for the day of the flights, as if you'd earned them the same day as the regular SCs. People had flights on their anniversaries and the SCs were backdated so they requalified/jumped up a status.

I was one of the lucky ones using xASA to boost my SC earn.

From memory a number of folk booked on sale or discounted Noumea J class via some convoluted routing to snag a truckload of DSCs. Wonderful to see!

Also note. My occasional DSC boost won’t work anymore as Federal public Servants are specifically excluded.

Still if I’m going to spend $6,700 J class return to London or $7,500 with DSC WELL I’m likely to just wait for the offer.

I would prefer to one way points to Europe (the. QR J return ex Oslo or Stockholm to Australia (but lousy SC earn) or Hong Kong and then revenue ticket to Europe or revenue ticket to Honkers and points with cheap surcharges to Europe)

But it all requires havin the cash to splash if it’s self funded but playing the puzzle of pay 2.5, fly one free, pay 2 fly one free, pay one fly one free, pay for none, fly completely free. The Alaskan or AA programs appear to get similar reward availability but with far fewer Aussies competing for the seats (QF 10 million Aussie members)

I notice during Dec & Jan QF flights are fairly full but lounges half full as more tourists and less suits are flying

Once I get to LTG then it opens doors to do something different. 5/7 of the way there!

What I'm interested in is who/how are these status runs found? Are these found by travel agents with a bit too much free time or is there some sort of data source available somewhere? Totally academic this question as I don't/can't/won't do status runs myself but every time I see a DSC thread someone pops up with some bizarre routing through a country that suddenly has 50 people transiting through there for an hour to get a bunch of SCs and I can't imagine how these routes just materialise?

What I'm interested in is who/how are these status runs found?

Looking and then trying to book it is half the fun and then successfully travelling it is the other half.

Looking for obscure routings with big SCs is fun. During the JASA era (oh such sweet memories) I did MEL-(40)SYD (60)-ASP with DSC so a 200SC run became 400 SCs at minimal cost. Very cheap way to retain status after retrenchment and assist in getting to LTG. I made WP1 that year with judicious use of JASAs and FASAs combined with two separate and well timed DSC offers.

During the AA heyday when their YUPP fares got you into their version of first class there were many routings to get cheap SCs, sometimes below $2 per SC. I went to San Juan a couple of times.

One I actually discovered was ORD-PHX-GEG (90 SCs per leg) that came in very cheap and had the benefit of visiting GEG which is actually a very nice city.

So how are these routings found? Well a knowledge of where the right length routes are that maximise return for the least travel time. Interesting places to travel can also come into it. The BKK-KUL-HKG route sometimes prices quite cheaply for a good return.

Hmmm, interesting. QF1 discount economy fares in mid-June seem to be rather scarce, in fact completely gone. The saver fares also have jumped some $200'ish. Is that a sign of QF potentially preparing for a promotion between sales???

Given that is a pretty peak time to travel to the UK/Europe I would say it's more a fact that the seats allocated for the lfights you are looking at have been sold.

Still, I suppose you never know.

In my experience QF1/QF2 revenue airfares to/from SIN always come at a hefty premium. Could be better availability to/from LHR.

The day after I book my next flight.

Take one for the team - buy a ticket today!! :)

Murphy's law is non-recursive though. So if I deliberately buy a ticket to trigger it, it won't happen.

people, due to the abject failure of Daver6 to be a team player, I found myself having to stretch to cover his failings.

I just booked a swag of international QF tickets to take advantage of some very decent fares. Would have preferred them with DSC, but I have also sworn off chasing status for 2019.

I sincerely hope that my purchases will trigger a DSC opportunity for the rest of the AFF crowd. My loss will be your gain. I can live with that, even enjoy, as long as Daver6 does not benefit :)

Daver6 does not play well with others :) Actually, Mr Joyce is just waiting for me to purchase a Y ticket in the next week. Sorry folks :)

Bit off topic/instead of waiting for the "next" DSC/Bonus SC earn...
Jun long weekend this year, some afternoon flights MEL - SYD in J for $501!
Gives an opportunity to test the MEL dom J lounge, and on a 330 no less, (if all goes well).
This one might be the other way for/of an SC run, instead of waiting for a DSC, $501 for MEL - SYD with QF is one of the cheapest I have seen on this route.

I can confidently assert that the J lounge experience will not be worth $501even with 40 SCs thrown in

I have not yet seen the space that former MELd QP had which is now taken over by the MELd J lounge, so if that fare stays at the price till end of this month, I will (take one seat, please for 330, but knowing me, it would sure get swapped for the 737).
Look at it this way, if QF is selling fares that cheap, $501 for MEL - SYD dom, I don't really see a DSC/bonus SC giveaway soon.
Who knows, maybe Alan J is watching our antics on here...

For around the same dollars you could double your SC haul and, subject to status, visit an alternative lounge.;)

When will the QF DSC be though, that is the main question.
At this point, with not more than 1 large plane SYD - CHC, I am stuck to Au dom flights, so at that price, its the best suit.
Have tried the VA MEL the Lounge, quite nice, seeing it was the former AN lounge.
Next aim is to visit the MEL newly refreshed QP, the newly refreshed QFd MEL J lounge, and the QFd PER J lounge.
If a DSC comes good, but I am not counting on it.
Who has the roll of the dice?
I say no DSC this year.
