If you ever find yourselves in Adelaide, it's really easy to negotiate the airport-city journey. The city is only a stone's throw away by car/taxi, and it's not that difficult to navigate around. But if you want to stay fairly near the airport, I recommend the Stamford Grand at Glenelg, which boasts a really good breakfast. But it is busy at brekky time, so book. Glenelg also has some great places to eat along Jetty Rd, outside the Stamford.
Places to stay - you don't really need an airport hotel because of the proximity of the airport to the city, but I can recommend the Hilton on Victoria Square, and if you want a 'tucked away' hotel, the Rendezvous Allegra is also nice.
There are also a lot of serviced apartments, including Quest, along King William Street, which are also very nice, and right in the middle of the CBD.
Along North Terrace, at the top of the CBD, you have the Hyatt and Stamford Plaza. There's also the Embassy (a fairly new hotel, with some really nice views) - all FF partners. The Radisson is also here, but it is a fair walk along North Terrace, and a bit of a way away. I would choose the Hyatt (or for longer stays, max the FF points with the Stamford) - both are very good. The gym at the Hyatt is superb, and the Shiki restaurant serves up great Japanese Teppanyaki with good service and some great wines (WA Chardonnays have to be tried here). There is also a very extensive whisky list in the bar - probably the one place in ADL I have found John Walker Green and John Walker Gold.
Also along North Terrace, there is the Qantas building, just in case you need to fix up any tickets etc.
The Hilton is slap bang outside Chinatown and Central Market, where you can always get some good food at a reasonable price. The Grange (in the Hilton) is also very good for a business dinner (ask about the seafood, called the 7 dances of the sea. It's a signature dish, each matched to a wine perfectly).
If you have the luck/money, I can also recommend the concierge floors of both the Hilton and Hyatt.
As for North Adelaide - this is also very nice. There are a lot of eateries along Melbourne Street and O'Connell Street, but North Adelaide is a little bit out of the CBD. You'd be well advised to have a car, if you can. There are serviced apartments along here, and personally, I would stay at the Vines or the Lion (don't confuse with the Lion Hotel) serviced apartments.
I can recommend Zapata's for Mexican in North Adelaide, JoJo's for pizzas, and along War Memorial Drive, there is a little place called 'Red Ochre', and if you want to impress some international clients, take them here. You can get a la carte Australian-influenced food here - and the wine list is not bad too. Service is great, and there's some things here that are definitely 'never tasted that before' dishes.
If you fancy a drive, go to Windy Point (just head along Pulteney Street, out of the city and keep going), drive up through the Adelaide Hills (you can't miss it) and you'll find 'Cafe Lago', and the Windy Point restaurant. For romantic dinners, this place has a superb view of Adelaide at night, with all the lights, and great desserts.
