I need some clarification please regarding whether my status will continue pass the date status counter resets on the day I joined QFF. Let me explain.
Just returned from NYC and currently about 30 status points away from gold. My status counter resets on 31st July 2014. So if I do a status run and reach gold say on 1st March 2014 , do I still retain gold status on 1st august 2014 or am I back to square one - zero ! Hence gold status for 12 months as of the 1st March ?

If you qualify for a higher status, the new status is effective as soon as the SCs post, then for the remainder of your current year AND the following full mebership year. (So it is possible to get up to 23 months of the higher status if you were to do a lot of flying in the first few days of your new membership year.)

In your case you would have gold 1 March 2014 to 31 july 2015.

You keep it until the end of the status year after you have attained it, I.e 12 months + plus what is left in the year you attained it in.

Welcome to AFF chai77.

If you earn Gold in March, you will turn gold as soon as the flight posts, and you will then have the remainder of your year as gold (so through to 31st of July 2014) *and* all of the next year, meaning you will have gold through July 31 2015.

The way QFF works is you earn the status for the remainder of your year and all of the next year (say you earned gold in August 2014, you would then have gold through July 31 2016 as you'd have all of 2014/15 and then 2015/16).

Thanks for the clarification all. I have a question about retaining rather than attaining ... does that add a further 12 months to your benefit period?

Using the above example:
If your exp date is 31-Jul-14 and you attain gold on 1-Mar-14, you are gold through to 31-Jul-15 as per the above.
However, if you then hit the retain level of 600 SCs on, say, 1-Sep-14 are you only gold through to 31-Jul-15, or is gold extended to 31-Jul-16? Or only 1-Sep-15?

retain works the same way as attain.
