Have an interesting event coming up where I will be checking into a hotel chain (Marriott) on the calendar day on which my platinum status will expire. ie I will check-in in Manila (GMT +8) on 1st May with my Platinum status expiring at "midnight" on 30 April.

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience on the definition of midnight?

I'm thinking that it will be expiring at "midnight" at the USA head office ie GMt -5.

So, if I was to present for check-in by 1300 (GMT + 8 - GMT-5) then my Platinum status would still show in their reservation system and therefore afford me those wonderful benefits.

Anyone got wider experience on this?

PS: I have asked this in a wider context than just the Marriott sub-forum in the hope that I might hear of experiences from within other USA chains if there is nothing specific for the Marriott chain.

I asked at a Marriott front desk - they didn't know.

I rang Marriott rewards customer service and they didn't know either.

As an aside, when I rang Marriott Rewards custoemr service, they had a natural language query and response autobot to originally handle the enquiry. It was actually very good, complete with the background 'keyboard clicking sound' as the autobot was searching for my answers.

As fr the expiry date, I'll probably just wing it and see what happens.
