This is interesting, one of my Aviation journalist friends mentioned online to me this morning that QF hadn't charged him the usual extortion for using a debit card for a recent booking.
I've gone to test this out, and it seems booking occurring within a short period of time (next 7 days, still testing how far out) receive an option to pay by Debit Card. Selecting Debit Card will cost you nothing, where if you select credit card the $25 for internationals/$7.70 for domestic is applied.
At the moment, only Mastercard Debit is supported, no sign of Visa Debit as yet.
This also seems to be contrary to their Schedule of Fees page, which states:
