Indeed… and if the captain is that incompetent.. what hope the crew and the passengers
30 hours ago , I sat on the stairs just above and behind the captain as he docked using his little control station outside the bridge
The ship finally stopped a few inches off the wharf fenders right on 9am.. not a minute early nor a minute late….

A couple of years ago when departing Rhodes, I was similarly watching the Captain from just above the bridge wing. He waved away the local tug (no doubt didn't want to pay the fee), but got it ever so slightly wrong. The Ship did a glancing blow off the dock side as he swung just a fraction too much. Saw the crew out on slings at the next stop in Crete, touching up the "scratches".
