What's your Uber experience?

Definetly don't rely on Uber in Paris. Was after a transfer from our hotel to Gare De Lyon for our TGV to Switzerland. Used the most expensive selection as well hoping it would trigger a pick up.

Luckily I started the booking process 2 hours before our train.

After over 40 minutes with no driver accepting the pickup, we used the nearby Metro Line 6 Cambronne station and walk from Bercy instead with still 45 minutes to spare👌

Cambronne station closed for refurbishment the day after we left as well, so luck was on our side on that 😊 👍

Midday train, so the Uber request was well after rush hour.

Had an interesting experience with catching Uber to Melbourne airport today. Noticed the trip fare was $10 more than quoted so looked at the App and noticed driver had claimed to have dropped me off at Essendon fields (6km away). Queried it and got it reversed.
I think some Uber drivers are getting as dodgy as taxis.
It is likely that some taxi drivers realised they can buy their own car and drive with UBER. That is why some of the UBER drivers are dodgy; they have moved from Taxis. UBER monitors all trips and do send comments to the driver if anything untoward is noticed, i.e. if you happen to be sitting at traffic lights for an extended period, Uber will send a message saying you have been stopped for a long time, is everything okay?
With regard to fares, all the driver does is drive, EVERYTHING else is arranged, setup, organised by Uber. It has also been noted that UBER underestimate the time of a trip for a significant number of trips that can add up to many hours in a month. For the individuals who drive for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, that amounts to a considerable loss of income on an annual basis.

Had the same issue in Paris. Nearly missed a flight. Took 45 minutes to get a car at about 7am

I caught a few Ubers in London recently and had excellent service from all of them.

One trip was over 90 minutes and I think it took nearly 30 minutes for the last 3km. The driver asked if I minded if he stopped at the petrol station to have a pee and I said certainly I'll come too. When we got inside the ladies was broken so he just stood at the door and said go in and I'll fend off anyone.

Another one had an absolutely spotless car and seat back pockets with water just like Uber when they first startedIMG_5524.JPGIMG_5525.JPGIMG_5526.JPG

Uber in India. Used Uber black a couple of times in Mumbai. It's nothing fancy and they seem to leave the factory plastic on the seats, including the back ones....so a very sub-par experience.

Easy to remove the evidence if they nick a kidney….

This is an oddly standard Indian thing. One of my friends fathers proudly bought a new Accord 20 years ago. It’s still got the plastic wrap on the sun visors, door kick plates, stereo screen etc etc.

I'm in a taxi again as we speak from PER. Uber pick up is so slow even when no traffic. Half the time they cancel. Line of taxis just waiting. I'm hardly going to stand around for ten minutes playing silly games.

Tried Uber reserve ex-MEL on Sunday around 2pm. Hit the 'I'm here' button once had bags, then stood for about 12 mins outside waiting whilst there was a long line of Ubers empty - watching the slow progress of my reserve uber making it to the pick up point - why could uber simply allocate the reservation to an uber already at the pick up point...

Requested Uber to get family plus suitcase across Paris.

Driver arrived, refused fare due luggage (and “short” trip….), then demanded I cancel. I refused, Uber charged EU10 fee for “not ready”. I complained, got my EU10 back. PITA.

See recent thread on MEL tv series, and why it’s the worst airport in the world. Two bays for all the prebooked Ubers, and no-one can get around because the unbooked Ubers are blocking the inside lane and there are so many prebooked because the system works well in general so people use it. Meanwhile taxi rank is empty. Here’s an idea - expand the Uber space. Never mind the narrow walkway outside between T1 and the Uber point (and negotiating all the people and luggage).

When you reserve, you get Uber Comfort, not Uber X which the non-prebooked Ubers largely are. The issue is the airport layout, not the Uber system which actually works fairly well. My one concern is when booking for an international arrival, they give you 45min from arrival, which for domestic is usually ok (just) for baggage, but MEL international C+I often will take more than this, so i have been unwilling to reserve a ride and just have to book it at the time.

yes given there was so many uberX lined up, and the stupid narrow entry at the new T1 rank, the uber reserve had to stay stall in a traffic jam until a security/customer service officer walked to the end to clear the cars...

Can’t really see the point of Reserve if they aren’t there waiting at the time you nominated, in your case clearly better (and cheaper?) to just get normal Uber.
