What's your shortest turn-around time (INT) ?

...

Not sure how Serfty got the SFO inserted in there
It was a tough gig, requiring a bit of research - but basically 60 SC's for a little more time.

[And inexperience - I'd never book a 50 minute SFO transit in what was a tight schedule again.]

Do status runs count? :)

For me, I guess it's a bit different, since anywhere from SIN is an international flight. Although I had a weekend where I was in SIN doing my MBA exam on Saturday morning, spent that night in a Taipei bar having my polaroid photo taken and put up the wall (some of you should know where it is), and had lunch with my friend in HKG on Sunday, and then back in the SIN office on Monday morning. That's a pretty busy weekend, I guess.

Still, it doesn't beat a friend of mine - he did SIN-PVG for a business dinner, and then flew home again straight away.

Does a journey originating in SIN and turning around on same plane in RGN count with about 60 mins on ground and no going through immigration? I am sure many know why :-)

Last February, I flew ADL-LAX on Sunday morning, then LAX-ADL on Monday night. Stayed 1 night in Manhattan Beach. Went over for a 1/2 hour meeting in LA

I did the RAR run earlier this year, SYD AKL RAR // RAR AKL SYD with transit time in RAR to be ~45 mins.

Did a CHC run a few weeks ago SYD CHC // CHC SYD with 5 hours of transit time.

PER-SYD-DFW-ORD in QF J return. On the ground in Chicago for 46 hrs for a 2 day business mtg.

PER-HKG-LAX-CLeveland (CX J and AA Y) return. On the ground 52 hrs and all work.

IME always tough when total flying time is longer than on the ground time even in J.

Friends

Recently, I had the occasion to call up QF to check something with my upcoming flights and the CSR mentioned something along the line of "...wow, you would be there for only a short time..."

The way I look at it, flight time is approx 9-10 hrs and on-ground time is about 48 hrs.

So, the "ratio" of on-ground / flight time would be about 2.4 (48 /(10+10)).

It does not look too bad to me but her reaction (presumably a non-AFFer) made me think how "short" your flight ratio has been.

So, did you (or are you going to) have any short INT turn-around flights ?

What's the "shortest" turn-around time you have had ?

I'm not talking about transit / stop-over here - but about going back to where you departed from.

Cheers

EDIT: please, DOM JASA is expressly excluded

Doing SYD-BNE-SIN-BNE-SYD on the 27.12.13 (SC Run) 4hrs on the ground in Singapore before heading back to Brisbane then Sydney.

For all that time and still not enough time to leave the airport - unless you're a risk taker !??

30 min each way would leave you with 3hrs to spare.

Another 30-40 min for check in

I'd say you are good to go ... to the city for 2 hrs.

Enough for a bowl of Laksa!

Now, are you going to leave the airport ?

I wouldn't ... what with the lounges etc. available to an SG and all.

Besides, you can indeed get a good bowl of Laksa at the airport in any case - quite cheaply too...

Prof Serfty

It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek figure of speech remark, not a literal one (regarding the Laksa)

I, for one, would be tempted to stretch my legs and do a brisk walkabout with that 4 hr break and HLO.

Plenty of time, walk out check-in at the counter for return flight head out side, get in a cab to the City for a catchup with a couple of old friends then come back walk straight through the departure doors, imigration fast lane a bit of DF then QF lounge, BA lounge and maybe the CX lounge (Yes I'm a lounge cough) pending time.

All this for 360 status credits to get me to 1405 and finally WP :-)

Apologies for slightly OT post.
Although not an especially quick turnaround, I flew SIN-HKG Friday afternoon, and flew back HKG-SIN the following afternoon. Was supposed to have a meeting on the Friday evening and breakfast on the Saturday. Instead, my colleague rocks up to my hotel at 10PM (!!) says, "I've got bad hayfever, just give me the papers and we'll meet up next time".
All that travel for what was literally a 40 second meeting............

My shortest is probably about 4 hours in a MEL-HKG-MEL return... might have been via SYD as well, but don't remember... My wife was travelling with the baby alone for the first time as BAH-HKG-MEL and I thought I'd surprise her by meeting her in HKG and helping her on the longer sector back to MEL. The QF lounge crew was very good in arranging for a message to be delivered to her asking her to come to the lounge after going through the transfer desk and I surprised her as she entered the lounge.

Slightly OT, I spent about 90 minutes in China.

Helicopter HKG - Macau.
Bus Macau - Border Town.
Walk across border into China.
Walk across border into Macau about 90 minutes later.
Bus to ferry terminal.
Ferry to HKG.

My FB status when I returned to my hotel in HKG?

"Today I walked to China."

my best time for doing a TPE-HKG turnaround is about 25mins, I was booked to take the same aircraft back to HKG about an hour after landing. however on arrival I managed to convince the transit desk to reopen the earlier flight that was already boarding and move me across to J on it instead.

was a bit of a rush but I managed and also score a long haul business class config instead of regional :)
