Always plan to arrive at the starting point 2 days before a cruise or tour. I have heard a lot of horror stories from people missing out on their holiday due to a flight delay. It also gives you a bit of time to adjust your body clock.

Yes, definitely before a cruise. Not just because you might miss the boat, but there’s nothing worse than making the ship but your luggage just missing the next port of call (and the next, and the next…). Not happened to me but I’ve seen it happen several times!

Late Luggage is never an issue for me I have only taken carry on for the last 7-8 years. that includes up to seven weeks away from Artic to Tropics

Setting up multiple alarms for waking up
I like to set up multiple alarms and a timer, sometimes two timers: one timer is set to go off a few minutes after my first alarm, and another is when check-in closes or boarding starts (depending on the situation). The first timer is designed to be a backup to the alarm: it sounds different and sometimes that's what it can take to snap one out of the snooze cycle. The second timer I watch as I get ready and pack up so I can clearly know how much time I have to play with to get to the airport.
