Same process tonight as ever.

"If Mr xx_xx_XX and Mrs NNNNNNNNNNN are on board, can they please press their call button to notify crew".

I seem to hear this on every VA flight and very, very rarely (if ever) on QF.

What's wrong with VA's Boarding Process that they don't know whether every passenger has boarded or not? It's not like they go ticking off seats against a manifest to check if someone has wandered past the tail on the apron ... does the computer consistently "lose' passengers after their BPs have been scanned?

Regards,

BD

To be fair to VA this happens on my QF flights quite regularly. Had one last week on SYD-BNE.

Perhaps the boarding pass has not scanned properly.

Fair enough, maybe I've just never noticed on QF.

I have noticed only because I am one of the last to board and I hang around at the gate towards the end of the boarding process.

This generally happens when people move seats after boarding. Have seen this cause 15 minute delay because the perpetrator didn't want to fess up...

checking the fail to boards didn't somehow get on without their boarding pass being scanned.
After making that announcement to check, they head out and commence bag offloads etc.

I have heard this on almost every airline! There is the no-show issue, but also maybe improperly scanned boarding pass, those who have received last minute upgrades (in the USA for example), duplicate boarding passes that might have been issued by a partner airline.
