i have never used my frequent flyer points before, i do not belong to the quantus club, i have around 170,000 points, i love to travel & am planning to go to sydney in the new year to visit friends & italy next year, i have spoken to quantus last year & they say if i join up with them i lose half my points, i am with westpac altitude points, can someone steer me in the right direction to get the maxium use for my points for travel, thanks basil/

Well According to westpac site... 170000 points are worth

170,000 Altitude points* = 85,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points
169,920 Altitude points* = 1,062 Air New Zealand Airpoints
170,000 Altitude points* = 85,000 Malaysia Airlines Enrich points
170,000 Altitude points* = 85,000 Virgin Blue Velocity Points
170,000 Altitude points* = 85,000 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles

85000 points with quantus does not get you much (one way J to sin / hkg is 60000)

Not sure what the burn'ability' the other FFPs have... but I am pretty sure you'd get better value than quantus.
