ozbeachbabe we'd be doing a classic award but have scrapped that idea as the taxees and fees don't make it a good use of points. If we have to do it we will but we're not spending much on the wedding so we can afford to splurge on the honeymoon. I may have annoyed Mr's Mum when I said we aren't putting gifts on the tables for our guests. Why do I need little boxes of chocolates in boxes that match the dress worn by the brides-slave?

Let Mr's Mum be annoyed, she'll get over it. It's your wedding so you do what you want as they'll always be people that want to hijack it & put in their 2c worth. I would bet that when Mr's Mum got married they were no gifts on the tables. If you want to live dangerously why not politely enquire what gifts Mr's Mum had on the table for her wedding guests.

When my parents got married my grandmother made Mum's wedding dress, Mum did her own makeup & the reception was held at the family farm at Merricks Vic. There were not caterers just family & friends pitching in. Then a lot of guests had to go home & milk the cows but returned afterward to continue with the celebrations. :p

You could always do a partner/classic award HNL/NAN or vv for 25,000 points plus USD2.50 pp then purchase a one way Bula Saver fare NAN/BNE on the www.airpacific.com website which is FJD568.00 or AUD308.00 pp approx.

Just another thought.think of AA rewards. You can buy miles with a 50% bonus now.A J award on HA would cost you ~ $1200 each to buy the points.J awards for 2 are not available every day and often go via SYD.However seems reasonable value if your budget stretches to that.

I forgot coming back. You can get AA awards on air Pacific but you have to ring to see if available.Nan-BNE in J costs 30000.so if you buy 40000 and get the 20000 bonus that would set you back $1100 for two_Only have to open up 1 account then.

I've researched some flights and the leading option is Hawaiian direct to Honolulu. I only have to carry my dress on one plane and we're each allowed to check in two bags. Will be a little over $1800 for the two of us.

The other option that I'm considering is Air New Zealand. Economy to Auckland, overnight stay then premium economy to Honolulu. Close to $2300 for the two of us plus a night at an airport hotel. That would involve spending more time in Auckland than it takes to fly BNE-HNL direct.

I think I know which one I will book but would appreciate comments on these options.
