Hello guru's,

I have accumulated about 200 000 points in the roughly the last year through sign up bonuses and general spending. I am well aware that the best value for points is to redeem for flights through a frequent flyer program, rather than redeem them for gift cards or through estore's etc.
There is a vast variety of frequent flyer programs that AMEX allows you to transfer points across to, such as Velocity, Qantas, KF, Emirates, Etihad, Thai, Asia Miles etc.
Through the research I've done, it appears as if KF gives the best value for points, as a first class suite ticket from Melbourne to London for example only costs about 225 000 points.
Does everyone else share the same view, or are the better value frequent flyer programs I am better off transferring my points to?
Thanks

Hi firstclasser, congrats on accumulating 200k points in a short period. You'll be flying in no time.

It's really hard to say which airline gives the best value for points as their programs are all different with their own quirks and sweet spots. In the end the best value is the program that is going to get you to the place that you want to go in comfort.

I like SQ for their product but dislike their taxes and surcharges. I like QF for the ease of earning points and familiarity but I'm not a huge fan of their product. I like Hong Kong so CX works well for me with lower taxes and surcharges but slightly less friendly service than SQ.

I'd decide where you want to go first and then look at your options to get there. You might be surprised at the variation in points, stopovers, flight availability and flight times.
