What's Malaysia Airlines like today? MEL-KUL-JHB-KUL-BKK-KUL-MEL on MH in Business Class.

And that's my TR.

I thought MH overall was pretty good. The aircraft and crew were very good. Amenities were fine. Food and beverage OK. In flight entertainment, while there was a large selection, could be more up to date. The MH A330-300 has only 1 x business class toilet for 27 seats. It really needs 2 but there are 2 x economy class ones just behind business class. It wasn't a problem on my 2 x A330-300 flights.

Four out of 6 of my flights were on time. The other 2 flights were not horribly delayed - they each landed about 1 hour late.

Lounges were OK but it helps to use your Business Class BP or Oneworld status where you can.

Earn on QFF is infamously poor. :(

Note that from February, the late MELAKL flight is no more and the Qantas lounges will close once QF95 boards ~9pm.

I took the midnight MH flight earlier this year.

I dropped in to the The lounge MH contracted to. It is in the old UA space.👎
Is that the Marhaba Lounge next door to the QF F lounge, if so I am sure it used to be the EK Lounge in the early 2000's.

Nup - I think it was the "Plaza Premium" lounge . But seems to have changed - thank goodness.

Now indeed the Marharba Lounge.

For the lounge I was referring to, head down to the bunker and when near the entrance of the QF International Business lounge go right and to the end then around the corner.

It was not very impressive.

As I was walking toward my seat the flight attendant greeted me by name from about 2m away. Super impressed.
Even if she had a list of names up the front she still had to memorise them for boarding!

Update:
Flight delayed, so same FA is back in a flash with the Champagne bottle, to top us up!
Never enjoyed a delayed departure so much...
Just ONE crew member can make such a difference.

Flew MAS MH149 KUL-MEL due to depart 21:50 23 November 2023. Departed about 45 minutes late after “engineering fixed something in the cabin”. Arrived about an hour late to the most crowded I’ve ever seen Tullamarine. Business class seat 8D (?). No privacy screen. Cramped foot space with lie flat bed. No hot drinks because of turbulence but later heard one oven was RS. Breakfast regrettable apart from the tub of yoghurt. Breakfast coffee was nescafe instant. Crew were good.
I flew MAS only because I flew Oman Air from MCT to KUL. I highly recommend Oman Air but cannot recommend MAS. Not worth the price.

We flew business class SYD - KUL (Return) in Oct '23. The direct flights were a very good price/time compared to other airlines and yet I was still a bit trepidatious about booking. Apart from the obvious event that crosses all our minds, I'd read some poor reviews. Regardless we decided to book. We opted for the Qantas business lounge on departure as we have the status, but on the return we visited their Malaysian airlines flagship Golden Lounge at KL. Food was good there although the egg station was manned by just one chef who was a little under pressure as it was breakfast time. Overall, I have to say, we were very impressed with Malaysian airlines. Aircraft and boarding procedures etc were all pretty standard and what you'd expect from a Business Class experience on most larger airlines however, what was different were the staff. I swear they hardly rested on either trip to/from KUL. Don't get me wrong, they weren't pestering those who clearly wanted to be left in peace, but they were offering drinks, food etc for anybody who looked up for it....and yes, you can ask for 'seconds' of satay sticks, in fact we didn't have to ask they were offered. Delicious.......The stewards stealthily glided down the gangways during the allocated sleep time onboard asking awake passengers if they may need anything, drinks, more food maybe? Their demeanour and attention to detail was something that you don't often see on flights these days, even First Class . Will definitely fly with them again.

Breakfast coffee was nescafe instant.

That's probably the Nescafé Gold Blend that was served on my flights too.

From December 2023, MH is now offering "premium Italian coffee, Illy, as an additional option for coffee lovers on Business Class"

"From December onwards, the airline will extend the menu refresh on its Chef on Call services on selected sectors; introduce ‘Best of ASEAN’ dishes; enhance its vegetarian meal offerings through its collaboration with international vegetarian chain, Annalakshmi; offer premium Italian coffee, Illy, as an additional option for coffee lovers on Business Class, as well as introduce its exclusive Cool Treats ice cream on selected regional and domestic sectors. These enhancements align with the airline’s commitment to deliver premium experiences and choices to its global customer base."
