I often wonder what is the story behind some people's AFF user names, and was quite enlightened by @somebol's recent explanation in his epic 5 day Award Heist TR.

Now, some are pretty obviously versions of people's actual names or initials.

But others have a bit more mystery to them. Like mine, maybe. It's Seat zero B BTW, not Seat oh B or seat 08 as some have thought. The back story is this - I used to be in the RAAF and one of my jobs was as an Air Movements Officer. The larger transport planes that we loaded were broken into compartments behind the bulkhead that separated the cargo/pax area from the coughpit. Anything anything forward of that bulkhead was labelled as compartment A/B, or sometimes row zero. My hubby is a private pilot with a Grumman Tiger, and when we fly in that, I am in the copilot seat. So hence he is in Seat 0A and I am in Seat 0B. And that's the story behind my user name.

If you feel comfortable sharing the story behind your AFF user name, I'd be interested to hear it!

I couldn’t come up with anything better or witty. It’s been a placeholder (to denote I’m a fan of flying, not that I’m a cooling device) to this day. I used to have an even worse handle, eastflyer (because I’m on the eastern seaboard).

I’d like a wittier handle - something like finalcall (although that sounds too fatalistic). I love ‘Must…Fly!’ which is of course taken.

Great explanation and great little aircraft. Was on my list when I was looking for a plane but now that nothing works like the AvMed people think it should it is out of the question.

Yes we love it! It's technically 4 seater, but we only do that for scenic tourist flights. For any travel, the back seat gives us a bit more space to take some luggage, although it's pretty much HLO in terms of weight and balance compared to physical space. It has reasonable legs, and reasonable speed, but not so fast you miss things. It's a very cute little aircraft.

I guess don't sit next to me on a flight unless you want to be getting up all the time 😆
Yep, there's a reason I have shifted to preferring the aisle seat! I do miss the view from the window though.

During my working life, I ended up in some rather remote (dare I say exotic) groups of islands over the years: the Montebello Islands (northwest WA), Palawan/Coron (SW Philippines), and more recently - the Mergui Archipelago in the Andaman Sea, south coast of Myanmar.
So there we are.

I'm always reminded of Danny Ricc and Max Verstappen sampling durian at the Singapore GP a number of years back. Max's reaction pretty much said it all...

Mine is a little lame. I used to ride a motorbike. At the time it was a Yamaha R6. I needed a name for a motorbike forum and came up with this. When joining AFF I was lazy and just re-used it. As for the first part, I think you all can figure it out :)

Paging @Durian to the courtesy phone!

A very large chunk of my later life has revolved around horses.. hence The Geriatric Horseman …. 🏇
Now that’s interesting! I had a horse in Newcastle as a teenager in the 1970s and I loved all things equestrian. Do you ride? Are a vet? Race? Rescue? Compete? Or something else entirely?
