Go the boozers! Hmm then again I don't drink all that much beer (wine, bubbles and coughtails thanks) unless there's a huge price difference or beer is the only drinkable item, and neither do I watch much football.

I'd also add one more category: The Shopper (whose idea of a good holiday is cleaning out boutiques of all local niche brands they can find, and whose aim is to shop at Prada/[insert favourite label] on at least 3 continents)! :D I probably fit somewhere in between Shopper and Boozer.

I'm also guilty of some 'box ticking' sometimes (eg in Rome I sped through the Sistine Chapel in 20 mins, if even that, just to say I've 'been there done that') then again despite having been to HKG heaps I've not visited the Big Buddha till the last time I was there when the other half insisted on seeing it.

Linguist and Adventurous Diner.

I make a big effort to learn the little things and leave the rest up to sign language.
I generally will eat anything recommended to me by a local.

They've missed the TRAVELLER ... those like myself who simply enjoy travelling; the lounges, the flights, the airports, the lounges, the picking of seats, the combining of different PNR to make a whole trips or six, the lounges ... :p

They've missed the TRAVELLER ...

Amen!

Lets see ... for me, a large dose of The Boozer (however, gin is my poison .. beer (+ the footy matches) hold no interest for me), a small dose of The Vegetarian (I'm not that hard to please, honest!) and since I got my D60 - The Snapper fits as well.

Per what serfty wrote, I mostly just enjoy travel for travel's sake. :)

Sorry Serfty but I feel the 'Traveller' should be a title for the common people or somebody who gets a little dirty and amongst the rough.
Maybe your title needs some finesse'

Have to agree with serfty to an extent, I really do enjoy travelling for just what it is - lounges, flights, hotels, points, SC's etc.

I must also admit I fall under the Boozer title somewhat, not exactly that I don't care what country I go to where the beer is cheap, but more along the lines of the beer/whisky that is available in the lounges - I tell you it's all the lounges fault!!!!

Yes I would go a Traveller and a Photographer. I try to take lots of creative photos as memories of where I have been before old-age and memory loss kick in

I guess I'm a cross between the TRAVELLER, the box ticker, and the boozer

Ok then, I'd be a TRAVELLER/Boozer/Shopper. A bit of a Photographer I think but mainly plane and hotel stuff.

Can we add a category for those that simply "want to get away"? Sure I am a boozer but I also enjoy playing golf.

If I am doing a tour of Europe or USA then I am the box ticker but if I go to Greece then all I want to do is relax and take in the atmosphere and pace of life. To each their own but for me it is different holidays, different moods, different attitude....

I'd have to admit I am a definite Tick The Box kind of tourist and must have a list of things to do and see in each City, regardless of how many times I have been there before.

Also I am a Snapper! It kinds of make sense to be a Snapper and a Tick The Box kind of tourist concurrently as I click, click and click away to show I've been there, done that, saw that ;)

With over 3,000 photos taken  from my recent four week trip, its hard to see why I can't work out what photos to show on my TR (hence the delay).

Well I guess that nobody is going to admit to being the Tight cough...

I would count myself as a box-ticking linguistic traveller. Not much of a boozer, definitely not the vegetarian (I've eaten some pretty dodgy things in China & Vietnam recently!) and even though I've taken a few photos, I prefer to carry the pictures in my head. If a place was not that memorable, why would you need half a million 6x4s to help you out?

I think there should be a new category - The Worrier. The type of person that needs to know every last detail about where they are going and what they will be doing 3 months before they even leave. The "Will there be 2 pillows or three on my hotel bed? And what brand of tea do they serve?" kind of person.

I know people like that

You know that travel broadens the mind. In the LOTFAP TRAVELLER would be TRAVELER. I like to think of myself as a traveller and a sometime cunning linguist as well.

There are lines I could use...but this being a family board, I'm not gonna!:lol:;)
