We will be arriving on BA5 on the Sunday morning, and then departing on JL773 on the Monday morning. We have an overnight stay in a nearby hotel. Does anyone know if JAL allow early checkin of bags or if there are other options for storing bags at Narita International Airport?

NRT closes overnight. They won't keep bags in the airport baggage system overnight. If you don't want to take the bags to/from the hotel, you'll need to use the baggage storage companies.
There are baggage lockers, but putting bags in the locker, then collecting the next day will cost you extra.

You can store bags with a company like JAL ABC for up to 7 days. (the same companies also offer baggage forwarding to hotels/other airports in Japan)

Most of the hotels have free shuttles to and from NRT.Ample storage for bags under the bus. When you reach the hotel there is always staff who will take your bags from the kerb to your room and they really don't want a tip.Really no problem keeping your bags.

Did this recently, caught the hotels free shuttle from airport return. It was no bother to keep our bags. We arrived at 6pm in the evening and left at 6.30 the next morning.

Did a very similar overnight. Just take the luggage to the shuttle bus, easy enough.
Then as @drron pointed out, bus driver, hotel staff, etc will take care of it.
I don't think it's too had, that's from someone who uses Ta-q-bin all the time!
