What to do with 770k of QFF points

Hi all,

Just thought I'd put this out there, I'm about half way to my points goal of 770k points which is enough for a trip for 2 in first class return to London which is what I thought would be awesome a year or so ago when I first started paying attention to points etc...

I should get the other half of the points within the next 12 months due to increased travel and credit card points so thought I'd put it out there to see if this is a total waste of points or if there are other cool things you could do with the points.

A friend of mine did a round the world trip booking through Qantas in Economy for about 140k points plus $1000 in taxes, are there good possibilities to do a similar round the world booking but in Business or First instead?

Absolutely, First class is 420,000.

I just blew 840k (2x 420k) on a trip to LHR and back with a few stops here and there in first class in June/July next year. I think that's the way to go, especially when you consider how cheap an economy ticket is compared to the price of a first class ticket.

I would redeem the QFF points on Oneworld awards.

Economy is fine for me but one of these days I may just treat myself to a Oneworld award in business class.

Does that mean you would retain the points if Qantas goes under? Do you get the same value per point under oneworld vs QFF?

I think he may be meaning you spend your QFF points on the Oneworld award flights, not just restricted to Qantas,

You would lose QFF points if Qantas went under. But I would not expect them to go under any time soon.

As for a Oneworld award well you can use you QFF points to book a Oneworld award and have flights on other Oneworld carriers. If you fit within the conditions of the award, 35,000 miles, 16 sectors, 5 stopover, and 2 airlines other than QF, it is a fixed amount of QFF points required. There is a sticky in this forum that should answer most of your questions.
