Hi

I have an overnight stopover in Seoul on Korean Airways flight to London. I get in in the early evening and fly out again the following afternoon. I have no idea where I'm staying but I guess it will be relatively close to the airport. Does anybody have any tips on what I could do/see in that amount of time. Much appreciated!

Yeah - go north and tell that idiot to stop firing misiles before he triggers another war!

Korean Airlines run coach service from the airport to downtown Seoul the trip takes about an hour. If you take the coach that stops at the Lotte Hotel you will be very close to the city centre and a subway station.
There was a train service starting from the airport to the city but I am not sure if this is operating yet.
There are a few interesting Temples and Palaces to look through close to downtown but these will be closed in the evening.
A trip to one of the markets close to the centre of Seoul is interesting, they are open very late and there is always a lot of activity. If you are downtown they are very easy to reach by subway.
Dongdaemun Market is one I have visited that is interesting as well as the stores there are often interesting activities organised out the front of the shopping centres.
If you have time to organise it you can arrange a goodwill guide through the Korean Tourism site. It is a free service. I have used it and think it is the best way to see Seoul. The site puts you in touch with a local who will guide you around Seoul, locals do this to improve there conversational English.
The goodwill guide I met was great, organised to have lunch with me between work meetings and then arranged dinner at a traditional restaurant and drinks and snacks later at a Korean bar. He also took a day off work to take me around the sights.

That's great. The guide thing sounds great. I actually used something similar in Japan and made a lifelong friend. Many thanks for your assistance. Cheers, Inkan
