What to do for a week in Taiwan/TPE? in March

Hello and Merry Xmas to all,
Mrs KitKat and myself would be going to TPE in March (Mrs KitKat going for work for a few days). As we have never been before, I thought I will tag along...
So, am open to all suggestions on what to do, eat, stay etc for a week.
Thinking about checking out the new W Taipei.. some night markets...cultural stuff at the museums

Apart from what has been mentioned, Taipei 101 tower and Beitou thermal area. If you've been to Rotorua, then Beitou probably won't impress too much, but I did find it interesting.

Do not miss the National Museum! They have the most incredible Chinese 'artifacts' on show!! supposedly taken from China for "safe keeping" when the KMT fled mainland China. Naturally, the PRC wants them back!!

this is a trip report I done for TPE

There are lots of things to do, don't forget the east coast towns if you get a chance.

Discovery travel & living channel - fun Taiwan is presently being repeated, there is a lot of good information on this program, if you dont have TLC option on fox, most of the series can be seen on u-tube as well

Whatever you do though, eat a Din Tai Fung!!!

Tainan is worth a day trip, the flights with FAT from the city airport are cheap (and gives you the right to say you have flown FAT ) and the sights in Tainan are less well known : Anping Old Fort (Old Fort Zeelandia) « Tainan City Guide

Shilin Night Markets are well known and good value for food choices as well. Also checkout yingge pottery street even if you are not not crafts, some very well priced pieces that make good souvenirs can be had. Checking out the shopping at Taipei 101 is also good.
