First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

G`Day

I wonder if any member can help me (and my wife) that knows from experience the seating in the F cabin of the A380.

We are flying out of MEL to LHR via SIN in the near future and are booked on the QF31 sector SIN to LHR in the A380. My question is are there any seats that you can sit together (our favourite seats on QF 747´s are 3E and 3F, or 4E and 4F on BA) or at least in talking distance of each other. If not, any recommendations to the best seats ?.

Oh just another small question, how does the A380 First cabin compare with Qantas or BA 747?. If it (A380) does not come up to “the experience” as Qantas tells us and we can`t sit together, I might be inclined to change the flight to a QF 747 or BA 747 (777).

Thanks for any info!

Kind regards, Traveller F

G'Day There,

The QF A380 F Class is in a 1-2-1 configuration if you wanted to sit together you would be better to sit in the middle of the aircraft. Overall the A380's experience with QF is a very good one, The FA's were extremely friendly and helpful, bags came out first and we the First class lounge in Sydney was very nice too.
I highly recommend flying in first class with QF

You won't actually be sitting 'next' to each other unfortunately!

The only time you can sit together is when using the visitor's seat in the suite (which is the footrest of the bed). So you will be able to dine together and still be close but only after takeoff and before landing. You won't be able to hold hands for takeoff, it that's what you're into :(

The 747 EF seats are much, much better for couples or for work collegues trying to converse.

Do not choose first row or last row of F and K.

The toilet is in front of cabin and some people. will walk down stair from upper deck.
Galley just behind the last row.

If you prefer more privacy and less annoy,1A and 2A are good seats.

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

G`Day,

Thanks for all the replies. I´m torn between the two, on one side I´d like to experience “F” in the A380 and on the other being able to sit together (and hold hands!! LOL “chicken or beef”).

Believe it or not after all these years and countless flights my wife is still nervous of flying, so I´ll try and talk her into the virtues of the new First cabin in the A380 and being a night flight we will be sleeping anyway. Wish me luck!

Kind regards, Traveller F

I thought I would have a similar problem with mrssimongr when we flew on CX in their herringbone config. However after a spa in the lounge in SYD and with a lie flat bed and great service from the CX staff - the whole sitting together was a non-issue and mrssimongr is a terribly terrified flier.

Personally I would try and persuade her that the experience on the A380 will be better - especially the dine together which you cant really do in the 744.

There have been reports of somewhat inexperienced staff on the A380 in J - no reports re F though.

For once I agree with CoB! ;-) And I do wish to say that Qantas have come through with fantastic cabin staff for the A380. Most importantly though, First Class on the Qantas A380 is disappointing and claustrophobic- even as a solo traveler. Based on a number of negative Qantas A380 experiences on the London run my wife and I now choose:
1. Qantas 747- F
2. BA- J
3. Cathay –F (but never J- really tough if you are > 5’ 5”)

If you want genuine quality, I would ignore the above and fly First with Singapore Airlines. However, I try and remain loyal, and keep chipping away with Qantas/oneworld...

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

I have flown F a few times on B747. Last month I flew F on A380 from LAX to SYD (first time in F on A380). In comparing the two products, I actually prefer F on A380 for the following reasons: the A380 was a much quieter than the B747, the seat had various massage controls, the TV screen was larger and clearer, the tray table was bigger, and there were more storage areas for toiletries and carryon luggage. I would say, give the F on A380 a go. [Traveller F: Like your wife, I don't like flying much as I am afraid of turbulence! But in F, she won't feel these as much as in the back of the plane.]

Unfortunately, CX no longer operate any F cabins to/from Australia, so that's not an option for anyone ex-Aus any more .

G'Day There,

The First class lounge in Sydney was very nice too.

Josh

and Melbourne, even I recommend the First Class lounge when not flying Qantas F. ;)

and seatguru is always good to get seating configurations.

and don't ask the lounge staff they have no idea, on what the best seats are.

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

Due to a strange twist of fate and a very nice BA person i am now booked on QF32 LHR-SIN instead of LHR-JNB-SIN to end my trip. Rather a shame i wont be able to get some nice steaks for the weekend BBQ from JNB but it makes it a much faster trip home and less moving of flights and hotels etc.
This is all due to a 24 delay MCT-LHR from a minor technical fault. So BA were very accomodating (thanks BA) and rebooked me LHR-SIN instead.

Anyway with that in mind i am currently in 4F, EF is showing 2A occupied and 1A blocked. I can't change the seat till i get to LHR but is the best seats still considered 1A or 2A ?
I am not traveling with anybody so privacy is better :)

Re: First Class Seating in the A380…..Need Help!

QF just range me, maybe 1hr after BA put in the booking :) so i selected 1A and will report back how it is.

Best F couple seats A380

Hi all,

Finally took the step and booked a long overdue holiday.

2 * FASA SYD-LAX on QF11.

We have been allocated 2A/2F but as mrs ejb is a nervous flyer I was hoping someone could tell me the two seats best for a couple.

Thanks.

ejb

Re: Best F couple seats A380

I think F/K are technically closer.

When is the planned flight? Hopefully the A380 will be flying again by the time you fly.

A virtual tour of the inside posted here last month should give a good idea of where to sit:

A middle seat with the window of the row behind (if you want to see each other) is how my parents have described it to me after multiple 380 flights in F, they feel these are the best seats (which i guess means 2F/3K or similar?). Otherwise 1A/1K isnt too bad either but you have to get up and down to see each other.

I havent seen F on the 380. So as always, YMMV.

There isn’t a 1F, and 2F has the stairs rising over it.

But from the VR above it looks like a middle seat with a K window of the row behind make the most sense.
