What should one expect from a full cost carrier when travelling J.

wow thats particularly bad

i have had very good, and average services in Dom J...things i would be looking for

Privacy (no kids please)
decent enough meal
quick to get on/off the plane
comfy seats

another note, i find that tweeting to QF customer service usually gets a follow up, very quickly too! worth a try

Oh this thread has hit all the hot buttons now.

Fyi, I've travelled with my children a fair bit, and they are are just as well behaved, if not better, than some so called "adults". At least my kids don't get drunk and obnoxious.
I agree with awilcockson on this. There are many 'adults' who need to be banned from J before most of the kids.

sorry when i said 'kids' i should have said infants. the crying kind!

and yes you are right, i have sat next to tradies from all sorts of mines in j before, and it is not very pleasant. being in J seems to give them a good excuse to get drunk at any time of the day...

I strongly encourage you to go for the hat trick ;)

Fat people or NB's in Row 4 will usually do it...

Back O/T:

Improved seat/meal/drink/service
A to B with the minimum of fuss
Operational landing gear

If you actually read the latest interview with head of loyalty at Qantas....you will find that the J-domestic lounges are more tailored to WP and loyal fliers....its there for J-domestic passengers as a byproduct.

discounted fare WP spend a hell of alot more $$$ than a J passenger that flies 3-4 times a year!

First the discounted fare WP may make up the necessary income for the flight but the occasional J more than likely is more profitable.
Second.I buy only 2 J tickets from QF per year-a DONE4 and either a Circle asia or Circle Pacific.Probably a little more in revenue from this twice a year J flyer than a discounted fare WP.
And I dont even qualify to enter the sacred ground of J lounges because I post to AA.

Again I disagree. Not only wad my daughter never an issue, the infants on flights have been too. Including one I was seated next to.

And I am sure if you had a tick box "does your child cry?" no one would tick it!!

i do not have to be politically correct on the internet or real life, so like i said, i stereotype

most babies cry, so i prefer not to have babies in business class.

yours may have been the quiet one, good for you. but most babies cry.

.... and for the same reasons I stick by my original comment :!:

I must admit that I internally cringe when I see children seated anywhere near me. I find myself hoping that the child/ren will be well behaved.

Being a parent myself though, I have had my son with me 100's of times on a plane. I have to say, despite the fact he was always very well behaved, i was aware of the looks we received upon boarding.

ISTR I had mentioned on another thread...... It's NOT a sign of bad parenting to have a child become upset, anxious etc on a flight. Stuff happens. It's about how you handle it when/if it occurs.

A child has no business running about the cabin. If you allow it to happen then expect to receive some comments.

I'd also agree with Straitman's earlier post. I've witnessed more incidents of poor behavior by adults on an aircraft, than i have seen by children.

It's more often witnessed seated in First, than any other cabin. PARTICULARLY the manner in which pax address staff. It's like good manners are completely unlearned by some people.

I was on QF98 last night, of the 30 J seats, there were no less than 9! children, ranging in age from 2 to I'd say around 15.

Didn't hear a peep out of a single one of them, all far better behaved than some of the "adults" I've had to endure previously. None of them let of ripper stinky farts for 8 hours straight. None of them snored so loud that I could hear them through noise cancelling head phones. None of them were so large that they spilled over into my seat. None of them drank 12 G&Ts and decided to serenade the J cabin with his own version of "Roxaaaane" while everyone else was trying to sleep (this actually happened to me on a CX flight!).

It was only 11 G&Ts.
And I was rehearsing for a karaoke competition as it happens.

Exactly what I would expect from a full service carrier if travelling economy but with a slightly better seat, more leg room and smaller cabin.

Pleasant check-in experience
Ability to check-in more than one bag (including golf clubs) and not pay extra for it
Punctuality
Friendly flight attendants
Consistent service
