I also believe the 'person" approach is more in tune with modern day reference in every context.

The 'person' approach mainly exists in English speaking western PC cultures. Most other languages are not gender neutral like English so it is a non-issue.

You have the right to chose if you want to be called Chairman, Chairwoman, Chair or Chairperson etc.

Ombudsman and mankind have no gender specificity yet some people change them despite their origin in non-English languages. For example the Germans use the word mann (should be umlauts I think) to describe 'people' which is where we get it from as German is one of the large roots of English.

Many a female director elected to the chair exists on being called the Chairman of the Board.

My travel is 100% self funded.

I don't see how this thread contributes to AFF.

The references to gender naming changes do my brain. Leave them alone. No need to change everything. Not everyone is interested in political correctness.

Personkind? Batsperson? 3rd person? And how would you describe human beings and humanity? I don't want to know as I will never use it....

And some of the music stores I've been into in Germany have the music genre of "Schwartz". It's not racist, it's just a literal translation.

Personally, I prefer to be recognized as non-gender-specific-biological-matter, but I guess that's just me.;-)

Don't forget batters on the wicket and fishers on the jetty....crazy and pointless...

When I flew J (only on long haul international, but my territory was Europe, UK and the USA) it was company funded, however I used to shop around to get the best deals as I consider it part of the game to maximise points earns vs dollars spent, even when they aren't my dollars.

When I owned my own small business I used points to fly first class round the world and when they were exhausted I downgraded to PE. Now my employer decides on a case by case basis for international, all domestic is cheapest fares available.

Cheers
Dave.

I had the batter but how could I forget fisherman. Or should that be fisherperson? And if more than one fisherman then it would be fisherpeople.

And Manly is no more. Renamed to Personly to keep the politically correct mob happy....

not politically correct when you are the person being excluded by the terminology - there are times when the terminology is silly to try and change and times when a little bit of sensitivity and consideration allows a small change to be more inclusive. I am old enough to have had to fight tooth and nail to be allowed to do things particularly as a woman in a high tech environment. however asking for sensitivity and consideration from some of the people on this board is probably a step too far. :)

I suspect some ( including me) are often too quick to disregard another's right to take offence to an intentional slight.
I felt it very strongly 30 years ago as an NZ expat in oz. never mind the fact my family history had a considerable time line in Australia as early settlers, and members of state parliament, and that the xenophobia was directed at me by some with only one generation of Australian history behind them anyway. ......But I digress.
What you say and how you say it, can be very hurtful, I have been guilty of this myself, and I regret any offence or hurt I have caused.

Geez, I haven't heard this winge for about 20 years. Fishers replaced fishermen some time ago, even the fishers could cope w' that. Do try to keep up! I believe in Huntsperson spiders too. :)

I try to go using points so I think why not go in First Suites because someone has to do it. Our travel is self funded points if it is for holidays.
